CSMU BA (Sanskrit) FAQs
Ques. Is BA (Sanskrit) at CSMU a full-time, on-campus course or is it available in distance/online mode?
Ans. BA (Sanskrit) at CSMU is strictly a full-time, on-campus programme offered at the Panvel, Navi Mumbai campus. Students are required to attend regular classes as part of the curriculum. CSMU does not offer this programme in distance or online mode. The university follows a structured timetable and students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible for examinations and scholarships.
Ques. Do I need to have studied Sanskrit in school to apply for BA (Sanskrit) at CSMU?
Ans. While having a background in Sanskrit from school (Class 10 or 12) is helpful and will make the transition easier, it is not a mandatory requirement for admission to BA (Sanskrit) at CSMU. The eligibility criteria only require passing 10+2 from a recognised board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in any stream. Students who have not studied Sanskrit before can still apply, though they should be prepared for an intensive study of the language from the foundational level.
Ques. What career options are available after completing BA (Sanskrit) from CSMU?
Ans. After completing BA (Sanskrit) from CSMU, students can pursue M.A. Sanskrit for higher academic and research careers. Studying BA (Sanskrit) at CSMU provides a solid foundation in Sanskrit grammar, literature, and classical texts, which is directly relevant to the UPSC Sanskrit Literature optional syllabus. However, students should note that Sanskrit as an optional requires deep language proficiency, and it is best suited for those who have a genuine interest in and aptitude for the language.
Ques. Is CUET-UG required for BA (Sanskrit) admission at CSMU, and which CUET subject should be chosen?
Ans. CUET-UG is not mandatory for BA (Sanskrit) admission at CSMU. Students who have appeared in CUET-UG can use their scores for admission, and those who have chosen Sanskrit as a language subject in CUET-UG will have an advantage. However, students who have not appeared in CUET-UG can still apply directly through the CSMU admission portal and will be considered on the basis of their 10+2 marks. CSMU also conducts its own CSMUCET for students who wish to take an entrance test.
Ques. What is the hostel fee at CSMU for 2026-27, and is it mandatory for BA Sanskrit students?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at CSMU is completely optional and not mandatory for BA (Sanskrit) students. For the academic year 2026-27, the annual hostel fee ranges from Rs. 92,000 (Triple Occupancy, Non-AC) to Rs. 1,40,000 (Double Occupancy, AC). Mess/food charges are separate and are set by the hostel management. Students who live in Navi Mumbai, Panvel, or nearby areas can commute to the campus, which is located near Shedung Toll Plaza on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, well-connected by road and rail.
