Admission to VIT University is determined by the VITEEE exam, which does not include negative marking. Higher ranks in this exam lead to lower tuition fees and a better chance of enrolling in preferred branches like Computer Science or Electrical and Electronics. Those ranking below 20,000 are invited for the first phase of counseling, held offline at VIT's Chennai and Vellore campuses, where branch selection is based on rank. degrees, and the student-to-faculty ratio is about 1:30. VIT offers a Fully Flexible Credit System from the second semester onward. The examination is split into three phases per semester: CAT1, CAT2 (open book), and FAT. Over 850 companies participate in annual campus placements, offering roles in IT, software, core engineering, and consultancy. The placement process categorizes offers into Regular, Dream (4.5 LPA and above), and Super Dream (10 LPA and above).
