Ques. What is the difference between B.Tech AI and Data Engineering and B.Tech AI and Machine Learning at VIT?
Ans. While both programs focus on artificial intelligence, the AI and Data Engineering specialization emphasizes data processing, analytics, and engineering aspects, whereas AI and Machine Learning focuses more on machine learning algorithms and model development. The AI and Data Engineering program includes more coursework on big data technologies, data warehousing, and ETL processes, making it ideal for students interested in data engineering roles.
Ques. Is VITEEE mandatory for admission to this program?
Ans. Yes, VITEEE is mandatory for admission to all B.Tech programs at VIT, including B.Tech Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering. Higher Secondary Board marks, JEE Main, or SAT scores are not considered for B.Tech admissions. However, NRI and foreign students can apply through separate NRI/International application processes.
Ques. What is the placement scenario for AI and Data Engineering graduates?
Ans. The placement scenario is excellent with a median package of INR 8.99 lakhs and highest package reaching INR 1.02 crore. Major recruiters include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and various data analytics startups. Graduates typically secure roles as Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, AI Developers, Data Scientists, and Business Analysts.
Ques. Can I change my specialization after admission?
Ans. No, once you are allotted a particular branch/specialization through counselling, there is no option to change the branch, campus, or fee category. The specialization remains fixed throughout the 4-year program. Therefore, it is important to carefully consider your choice during the counselling process.
Ques. What are the hostel facilities and is it mandatory for first-year students?
Ans. VIT provides well-equipped hostel facilities with various room types (AC/NAC) and mess options (vegetarian/non-vegetarian/special). Hostel accommodation is compulsory for first-year students unless a parent or guardian stays with the student in Vellore. Hostel fees range from INR 1,42,400 to INR 2,50,300 per annum depending on room type and mess preferences. The hostel includes laundry services (maximum 44 washes per semester) and other amenities.
Ques. Are there opportunities for international exposure during the course?
Ans. Yes, VIT offers multiple international exposure opportunities including the International Transfer Program (ITP) where students can complete their final two years at partner universities abroad, and the Semester Abroad Program (SAP) enabling students to pursue their final semester in international partner institutions.
