Story of TISS

Likes

College curriculum because everybody is get the equal chance and the class and everybody gets a chance to express their self and their thoughts
Also college faculty is very educated and open minded always welcoming your thoughts and queries you can ask your doubt anytime
Seniors also help us we never alone here, everybody is helpful

Dislikes

First thing which I don't like is the rent of Mumbai
Secondly the crowd of the city it's too crowded and for a person from coming from tier 3 City it's difficult to get down settle here
Not getting accommodation in hostel is also one problem

Admission:

I choose this college because I kind a love social work and other colleges don't provide social work at this level here Tata institute has a lot of connections and a project in Mumbai and other parts of India other colleges don't provide us this much detailed earning and practical knowledge yeah there are good colleges with provide us theory learning but I preferred practical learning so I join this

A hand on journey through film,media and innovation at WWI

Many courses in WWI are very perfectly orinted,such as filmmaking,media,animation and acting.
The Students often work on real projects,makle films and use industry standard studios and equipment.
The facilities include a strong IT infrastructure,wi-fi and specialist technial facilities

Dislikes

Some students feels that WWI in very expensive.

Admission:

I selected WWI because of great in placement and industry links, professional links and portfolio building throgh internships and projects. The Faculty member comprise professionals in their respective fields, which led to a more hands on learning experiance compared to the theoretical aspects of learning at the other institutions. i applied to a few other well known college which have high fees and cutoff.The entrance too WWI involves an entrance examination that focuses on creativity and knowledge in the subjects as well as interview.

A perfect blend of learning and industry exposure.

Likes

The faculty is extremely experienced and provides valuable industry perspective.
The campus is modern and equipped with smart classrooms, media, labs, studios and an excellent library.
The placement cell is very helpful and active, getting students placed with firm.

Dislikes

The hostel is not good so providing variety in food.
sometimes coordination between department can be smoother.
The course is a bit on the expensive side when it comes to fees.

Admission:

I had sent my application to amity,symbosis and whistling wood. I opted whistling wood because it robust industry links,pragmatic curriculam and top notch media infrastructure. The placement record,faculty expertise and practical learning were key deciding points. The admission process was also hassle free. it involved an aptitude test and personal interview.

Infrastructure is decent but due to lack of fund from the government end it is not up to the mark

I applied in different colleges like JNU, DSE and Hyderabad University but I chosen TISS Mumbai because it offers a descent placement and provides a better understanding in research and practical learning.

Great Campus life and Students' connect. On campus everyone is open to all kinds of new ideas. Everyone is passionate and work very hard to achieve goals . This doesn't limit to only Students. Staff and Faculty is equally involved and open to new id
Alumni Network is amazing. It is widely speard and very strong in the industry. It develops trust and involvement of WWI students and helps to coordinate and collaborate with the industry on ground. It also allows to find new opportunities.
Futuristic Technology and amenities. WWI allows students to participate and learn more about new technologies. High tech cameras and equipments are available for students and the course teaches the technicalities of the equipment as well.

Dislikes

No hostel facilities, accommodation is a bit difficult but there are people on campus who can help you figure it out

Admission:

WWI gives a degree in Media and Communication which is rare in India. You get a TISS degree which is great especially if you plan to study abroad. It is a perfect blend of practical and theory knowledge. It prepares you for real world and challenges you to become a better version of yourself. There are multiple projects that make you aware of your skills. WWI has great networks in the industry which makes it a hub of creativity. Industry experts often come to conferences, talks,panels to interact with students. Admission Process is simple, you need to fill forms, give a test, and an interview. Likes

The campus is calm and relaxing. Especially the old campus. With many animals and birds
Efficient Library and resources, separate reading area for newspaper reading, cyber library and such.
Faculties are very professional and resourceful.

Dislikes

Management system where , students who are actually deserving of hostel, fails to get it.
There are canteens, which are not very pocket friendly, considering the fact that majority are students
Lack of efficient sports facilities and grounds. There is a proper gym though.

Admission:

Comparing to other colleges, the syllabus is practically and socially relevant for Indian context. And our institution has a properly functioning placement cell. Also it's a well known premium institution

I liked the campus vibe, no ragging everyone is friendly here
Professors are super helpful, if you reach them they are willing to help you every time
Events at every festival and every special occasion unites TISS. People from all courses play and celebrate together. No gender, no disability and no caste or religion discrimination at all.

Dislikes

Campus doesn't have much facilities like a playground, swimming pool and even no encouragement from institute management for sports

Admission:

I had admission offers from SIBM Bangalore, LBSIM Delhi, IMT Nagpur and some tier 3 business schools. But I chose TISS because they have good branding and overall it aligns better with my goals of starting my own venture rather than learning how to work in a corporate culture. I got rejection from IIM Kozhikode, NIBM Pune, SIBM Pune, NMIMS Mumbai and some New IIMs. Admission process is rigorous you have to appear for CAT/CUET for getting the online assessment (GDPI) call, you have to fill DAF form (very important thing) on the basis of your overall score of GDPI and entrance exam you will get your names in admission list. PI is hard to crack.

Exposure to high level of education. There are critics on all thought process where you can learn and unlearn at the end, you will gain knowledge from an individual level to give back to the community to came from.
Freedom of expression. All you ideas and thought can be shared ab=nd discussed with faculties.
Great faculties. Open to every idea and backing up at each step. Will be a guide at any point of the academics.

Dislikes

Current restriction on student activities.

Admission:

All I know was, I cannot continue my work in more mechanised or corporate world. I need to keep my thoughts touch ith grassroot level and only a social science institutecan bring that. TISS is one of the best institutes for learning different ideas and lenses. I have applied for other colleges like MSSW, Chennai and CHRIST UNIVERSITY, Bengaluru but when I got my result from TISS I didn't bother to attend other college entrance exams. There was no second thoughts. Whatever I got here, I would have joined.
