NUALS: REVIEW OF 1.5 MONTHS

Likes

The campus although small is very elegant and nice.
The mooting culture is really really good.

Dislikes

The teachers aren't great so have to depend on self learning.
The mess food is a hit or miss most of the times.

Faculty:

In the first semester, there are 6 subjects. First semester starts in July and ends in December. Each year of the course has 2 semesters so totally 10 semesters. First few semesters will be predominantly BA based subjects after which we will move on to LLB subjects. Out of the 6 subjects in 1st semester, 2 are taught by permanent faculty members while 4 are taught by guest lecturers.

NUALS: A first impression

Likes

The campus is beautiful. The buildings and gardens are well maintained, and the scenery is quite the sight. The classrooms are equipped with projector, AC and fans. Overall, the infrastructure might not be the best, but nice.
The library is vast and equipped with books and materials a law student need. There is space to study in the library and its open till 11.00 and E-books and online legal resources are also avaliable

Dislikes

As much as I liked the campus, the area is a bit isolated and rural. there are no proper shops; let me make that clear yes there are shops but you won't find aesthetic cafes and supermarkets unless u travel 20 mins.
As mentioned, the area is an industrial area so it's not exactly the cleanest or the safest, I mean this the opinion of the whole of Kochi as an outsider. so take that to account if coming here

Faculty:

As first years, we have 6 subjects out of which 4 are taken by guest faculty. The permanent staff takes the subject of economics and Legal Methods, both well versed in their subjects. the guest faculty too are good at what they do and take classes attentively and nicely. There is this ongoing myth by our parents and elders that college professors don't care what we do in their classes. There are assignments, projects, homework, and other stuff daily, the teachers grade you on these works, so you can't slack off, and neither can they. The teachers are inclusive and help students out, listening to their worries, to an extent.

There are many faculties who teach different subjects of the course and there are some faculties who teach more than two subjects in the course. They are very good and friendly towards us but also very strict when it comes to studying.

Faculty:

The faculty for the LLM course is very good. They are very well qualified and have publications in many different internationally recognized law journals. Many different eminent figures in Law field also hold lectures and seminars at NUALS.
