Teaching here is top notch , the faculty is highly experienced and there are teaching assisstents too which help us in understanding the concepts really well
Placements of iit mandi are great and more than 400 companies including top companies like amazon, google, microsoft etc.
Good thing is that college provides scholarship for economically backward students .

Dislikes

There is a lack of proper course layout, examination systems and management
Branch change- from 2024 onwards there will be no branch change . i think its bad decision as it was giving opportunities to the students to change their branches if they dont like the course structure .
Faculty: some faculty are very rude to students and grading is relatively tough.

Hostel Accommodation is one thing that I can vouch for
Scenic Location of the campus in Mountains

Dislikes

Placement provided by the campus i not much Supportive and its policies too
we could have better faculties and better Industry interaction

Food. the food in the mess is awesome.they got a pretty balanced diet ,which includes both vegeterian and non vegetarian food.there is no restriction for the amount of food that we can eat.the timings in mess is also pretty flexible.
Hostel.the hostel we statu is a 1bhk apartment ,it has also the basic facilities included.we have got a microwave oven,iron box and geysers too.the security guards are really friendly here.there is no time limit here.
Location.iit mandis loaction is in mandi,which lies in between mountains.the ambience this college provides is nothing less than a heaven .mostvof the time in a year it is cold here in campus.aldo spots like manali,dharamshala are nearby .

Course Curriculum Overview:

Semester-end exams are there but along with that presentations, and quizzes are also different modes of evaluation. i would suggest inviting more guest faculty from other renowned institutions and those who are experts in the industry to iit mandi.

Campus in the mountains is dream of many students
Accommodation for males are shared spaces

Dislikes

Remote Location of campus which cuts it from the industry
very harsh weather condition in every season

I rate the course curriculum highly for its practical approach and emphasis on real-world skills through projects and internships. However, more industry collaborations would enhance its relevance further. Improvements could include updating the curriculum regularly and incorporating cutting-edge technologies. Exams are well-timed but could be more challenging to deepen understanding.

A glimpse of MBA in the mountains.

Likes

The campus is beautiful with many places nearby to explore.
The food quality in the mess if good compared to other colleges
The course of MBA with a specialization in DS and AI gives an unique opportunity

Dislikes

The academic calendar and timetable are often not followed rigorously
The placement scenario is not very clear yet
There is a lack of proper course layout, examination systems and management

Placement Experience:

Students become eligilbe for the placements after the completion of 2nd semester. Since the course started in 2022, the first batch is yet to graduate and official placement records have not been released. However, some offers from Japan have been made. In India, students have been offered PPO from MaxLife and Yum Brands. Some other companies that came for placement are Axtria and FIITJEE.

I have gone through the faculty profile given on the official website of IIT Mandi. It looks similar to that of all newly established IITs, except for IIT Gn and IIT H, which are better than the others.

One of my friends is also a student of the Mechanical branch at IIT Mandi. Most of the faculty members in the Mechanical branch are married couples. One of them got a job here and after that, they recommended their spouses.

In terms of research, the branch is not that good. Most of the faculties just mug up a research paper and publish a new one. One of the faculties became associate by doing the same. If you want to pursue higher studies in Mechanical, then don’t choose IIT Mandi.
