The admission process at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) is based on a merit-based entrance exam, which is conducted annually with a syllabus at the graduation level. A score of 49 out of 100 was enough to secure a spot on the merit list at HPU Regional Center Khaniyara. Once selected, candidates must submit an online prospectus and provide scanned documents like their 10th, 12th, and graduation certificates. The faculty at HPU are well-qualified, including guest lecturers, and are generally supportive and involved in academic activities.

However, the university currently lacks robust job placement opportunities and does not offer internships, which are important for students' career development. The tuition fees for government seats are nominal, with boys paying 6,680 rupees per year, whereas paid seats cost around 30,000 rupees. In addition to the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) scholarships, the university offers its own scholarship programs to assist students financially.
