What is HPU BEd 2026?

HPU BEd stands for Himachal Pradesh University Bachelor of Education Entrance Test. It is a state-level entrance exam conducted every year by Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, for admission to the 2-year regular B.Ed programme. The B.Ed degree trains graduates to become qualified teachers at the secondary and senior secondary school level. The HPU BEd 2026 category-wise merit list has been released today, June 16, 2026, on the official website hpuniv.ac.in and the admission portal nadmissions.hpushimla.in. The merit list is the final qualifying document — only candidates listed on it are eligible to register for HPU BEd 2026 counselling and seek admission to the B.Ed programme.

The merit list is separate from the result scorecard. The result (declared June 9) showed whether you qualified the exam. The merit list (out today) shows your competitive rank among all qualified candidates in your category. Seat allotment during counselling is done entirely based on this rank.

Tie-Breaking Policy for HPU BEd 2026 Merit List

If two or more candidates score identical total marks, HPU determines their rank using the following section-wise order:

1. Marks in Teaching Aptitude and Attitude (first priority)

3. Marks in Logical Reasoning

Educational Qualification

• You must have a Bachelor’s degree (BA / B.Sc. / B.Com / equivalent) from a recognized university with Grade B or CGPA 5.01 and above, which equals a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate

• Candidates with a B.E. / B.Tech degree with at least 55% marks and Science and Mathematics at the senior secondary level are also eligible

Nationality and HP Domicile

• You must be an Indian citizen
• 85% of B.Ed seats in HPU-affiliated colleges are for bonafide or domicile residents of Himachal Pradesh — you need a valid HP Domicile Certificate or HP Bonafide Certificate to claim these seats
• 15% of seats are open to candidates from other states and union territories, irrespective of category

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit for HPU BEd admission, as per the Himachal Pradesh High Court order (LPA 104/2012). Any graduate meeting the minimum marks requirement can apply regardless of age.

Stream Eligibility

Your teaching stream in the B.Ed programme must match your graduation subject area:

• Arts Stream: For graduates with Humanities or Social Sciences subjects

HPU BEd 2026 Admit Card

The HPU BEd 2026 admit card was released on May 19, 2026 on the official admission portal nadmissions.hpushimla.in — four days before the exam on May 23, 2026. No admit card was dispatched by post or email. Every candidate had to download and print it themselves.
