IIIT Delhi: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 9 Reviews

The course effectively manages faculty-to-student ratios by creating sections if class sizes exceed 200-300 students, maintaining a 1:300 ratio per section in Semester

  • Professors are approachable, offering weekly office hours and extra time after classes. Faculty members are well-qualified, with degrees and awards from prestigious institutions. Assessment methods vary, including attendance marks, quizzes, and assignments. Classes are held in two major lecture hall complexes, facilitating easy movement. The faculty is generally considered superior to some IITs, with a mix of proficient and excellent professors.

Historically, the college achieved 100% placements, but recent reports show a decrease to 75-82% in 2024, with the highest salary package at 51 LPA and an average of 20-22 LPA for B.Tech graduates. About 25% of students received pre-placement offers. Students become eligible for internships after the 4th semester and placements after the 6th semester, with prominent recruiters like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. Internships offer stipends from 60k to 2.5L per month, requiring a minimum CGPA of 8.

The college's placement and internship programs are well-structured, supported by a strong placement cell and an incubation center. The total course fee over four years is approximately 19.55 lakh INR, with tuition starting at 4.5 lakh INR per year, increasing by 10% annually, though no hike occurred recently due to Covid. Additional expenses include hostel fees of 66,000 INR per year and mess charges of about 3,500 INR per month.

Scholarships, including full-fee waivers, are available for students from economically weaker sections, female candidates, and those with JEE Main ranks below 2000. Scholarships typically apply after the first year and often require a family income below 6 LPA. For international students, fees are higher. Students can earn stipends of 10,000-15,000 INR through teaching assistantships and research internships.

IIIT Delhi: 1 Answered Question

Which are the easiest and toughest courses in the history of IIIT-Delhi?

Ashwin Mahajanstudied at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (2020)

I am an alumnus of B.Tech CSE from IIIT Delhi. I joined in 2008. These were the two most difficult courses in CSE during my time-

Only 2008 and 2009 batch students got to study under Khushil Saini. He taught Digital Circuits to first-semester students, and Computer Organization to second-semester students. Sir taught at NSUT before joining IIIT Delhi. 12 was the most one could score in Computer Organization, to pass with a D grade. However, some students did manage to score mid-twenties and get a B grade in both faculty subjects. Lab practicals were their saving grace.

But while his marking scheme was so frightening, sir was a very polite person. He addressed us as a friend and was not threatening at all. Then there was the Theory of Computation taught by Dr. Astrid Kiehn. From a class of 60, 26 of us failed his course.

In spite of every hardship, I miss IIIT Delhi since graduating from this college.
