IIIT Delhi: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 4 Reviews

The college boasts highly qualified faculty with PhDs from prestigious universities, though there are mixed reviews on teaching effectiveness, prompting reliance on external resources. Academic standards are rigorous, with a challenging grading system. Placement opportunities start from the 6th semester, featuring top tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and Flipkart, recruiting 70-80% of students. The highest reported salary package is around 58 lakhs, with some claims of up to 1.2 crore, and an average package of 25-26 lakhs.

Despite a claimed 99.81% placement rate, concerns exist about unreported unplaced students and CGPA-based restrictions. TCS, for instance, requires an 8.5 CGPA for a 4.5 LPA offer. Domestic salaries average around 1 lakh per month. Pre-recession, placement rates for CSE were 85-90%, now slightly stagnated. Internship opportunities are abundant, with top companies offering high stipends, averaging 80k per month. The college emphasizes research and development, offering various project opportunities. Students must pay the entire annual fee upfront, with a 20% annual increase.

Current semester fees are approximately Rs 225,000, rising by 10% yearly. Total annual fees for the first four years are Rs 450,000, Rs 475,000, Rs 500,000, and Rs 530,000. EWS students can access financial aid, and scholarships are available through Delhi government schemes. DASA students pay Rs 3.4 lakh per semester, while JAC students pay Rs 2.25 lakh per semester. The college offers a laptop scheme but does not provide internships directly.

Overall, the placement and average package situations are favorable.

IIIT Delhi: 1 Answered Question

Which are the easiest and toughest courses in the history of IIIT-Delhi?

Ashwin Mahajanstudied at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (2020)

I am an alumnus of B.Tech CSE from IIIT Delhi. I joined in 2008. These were the two most difficult courses in CSE during my time-

Only 2008 and 2009 batch students got to study under Khushil Saini. He taught Digital Circuits to first-semester students, and Computer Organization to second-semester students. Sir taught at NSUT before joining IIIT Delhi. 12 was the most one could score in Computer Organization, to pass with a D grade. However, some students did manage to score mid-twenties and get a B grade in both faculty subjects. Lab practicals were their saving grace.

But while his marking scheme was so frightening, sir was a very polite person. He addressed us as a friend and was not threatening at all. Then there was the Theory of Computation taught by Dr. Astrid Kiehn. From a class of 60, 26 of us failed his course.

In spite of every hardship, I miss IIIT Delhi since graduating from this college.
