Ques. Is GATE mandatory for PhD Mathematics admission at NIT Warangal, and which exams are accepted?
Ans. No, GATE is not mandatory for PhD Mathematics admission at NIT Warangal. Candidates without GATE can still apply and will be required to appear for a written test (based on GATE Mathematics syllabus) followed by an interview. Apart from GATE, NIT Warangal also accepts CSIR-NET (Mathematical Sciences) and NBHM PhD Scholarship as qualifying exams that exempt candidates from the written test. INSPIRE fellowship holders are also exempted. So while these qualifications give you an advantage by skipping the written test, they are not a prerequisite for applying.
Ques. What are the eligibility qualifications for PhD Mathematics at NIT Warangal - can B.Tech. graduates apply?
Ans. Yes, B.Tech./B.E. graduates in any branch who have completed M.Sc. in Mathematics/Statistics are eligible to apply. Ques. What is the monthly stipend for a PhD Mathematics scholar at NIT Warangal?
Ans. Full-time PhD scholars admitted under the Institute Fellowship category receive Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years and Rs. 42,000 per month from the third year onwards. In addition, scholars are provided with single-occupancy hostel accommodation on campus (hostel fee: Rs. 46,000 per semester). There is no HRA provided since accommodation is on campus. Scholars also get access to central research facilities, computational labs, and a research contingency grant. Note that accommodation for married scholars is currently not available on campus.
