Ques. Is GATE or CSIR-NET mandatory for PhD Chemistry admission at NIT Warangal?
Ans. No, neither GATE nor CSIR-NET is mandatory for PhD Chemistry admission at NIT Warangal. Candidates without these qualifications can still apply and will be required to appear for a written test (based on GATE/CSIR-NET Chemistry syllabus) followed by an interview. However, if you have a valid GATE or CSIR-NET score, you are directly exempted from the written test and only need to appear for the interview. INSPIRE fellowship holders are also exempted from the written test. So while these qualifications give you an advantage, they are not a prerequisite for applying.

Ans. Yes, B.Pharm + M.Pharm candidates are explicitly eligible to apply for PhD Chemistry at NIT Warangal, as per the official brochure. Additionally, candidates with B.Sc./BS in Chemistry and M.Sc./MS/Integrated M.Sc./BS-MS in Chemistry are eligible. Candidates with M.Tech. in Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Industrial Chemistry, or Polymer Science are also eligible. The key requirement is a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG levels (55% for SC/ST/PwD).

Ques. What is the monthly stipend for a PhD Chemistry scholar at NIT Warangal?
Ans. Full-time PhD scholars admitted under the Institute Fellowship category receive Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years and Rs. 42,000 per month from the third year onwards. In addition, scholars are provided with single-occupancy hostel accommodation on campus (hostel fee: Rs. 46,000 per semester). There is no HRA provided since accommodation is on campus. Scholars also get access to central research facilities, labs, and a research contingency grant. Note that accommodation for married scholars is currently not available on campus.
Ques. How does the written test for PhD Chemistry at NIT Warangal work?
Ans. Candidates who do not have a valid GATE or CSIR-NET score must appear for a written test. The written test for PhD Chemistry comprises questions from either Part A and Part B, or Part C only. Part A covers questions based on the Department-specific GATE syllabus (Chemistry). Part B covers questions based on the Postgraduate Specialization syllabus. Part C is a single test for the entire department based on the GATE Chemistry syllabus. After the written test, all candidates (including those exempted from the written test) must appear for an interview. The final selection is based on academic performance, written test score (if applicable), and interview performance.
Ques. Can I pursue PhD Chemistry at NIT Warangal while working (part-time mode)?
Ans. Yes, NIT Warangal offers a part-time PhD program in Chemistry for working professionals. Part-time candidates must be permanent employees of private academic institutions, government-funded educational institutions, private industries with R&D facilities (with CII/ASSOCHAM membership), or government R&D laboratories/PSUs/state undertakings. A minimum of 2 years of work experience (for M.Sc. holders) or 3 years (for B.Tech. holders) is required. Part-time candidates must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer. Note that part-time PhD scholars are not eligible for the Institute Fellowship, and the minimum duration for part-time PhD is 4 years.
