  • Full-time scholars on Institute Fellowship receive Rs. 37,000/month for the first two years and Rs. 42,000/month for the subsequent three years, which effectively covers the semester fees and living expenses.
  • For Full-time Self-Finance candidates, the fee structure is different: Tuition Fee Rs. 50,000/semester + Contingency Rs. 10,000/semester + Other Fee Rs. 42,500/semester = Rs. 1,02,500/semester.
  • Refund Policy: If withdrawal is on or before the date of physical reporting, Rs. 5,000 will be deducted from the institute tuition and other fee, and the remaining amount will be refunded.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates with B.E./B.Tech. in Biotechnology/Industrial Biotechnology/Biochemical Engineering/Bioinformatics/Biomedical Engineering/Bioengineering/Genetic Engineering/Food Technology and Biochemical Engineering/Biological Sciences and Bioengineering or related disciplines AND M.E./M.Tech./M.S. in Biotechnology or related fields are eligible.
  • Candidates with M.Sc. in Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiology/Botany/Zoology/Bioinformatics/Life Sciences (with or without M.Tech. in Biotechnology) are also eligible to apply directly.
  • Minimum academic requirement: 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL; 55% aggregate marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
  • GATE/UGC-CSIR-NET/GPAT qualification is NOT mandatory; however, GATE-qualified candidates are exempted from the written test and directly called for interview.
  • Maximum age limit for Full-Time Institute Fellowship: 30 years (GEN/GEN-EWS), 33 years (OBC-NCL), 35 years (SC/ST/PwD/Female) as on March 27, 2026.

Admission Process

  • Submit the online application at admissions.nitw.ac.in before April 18, 2026, along with all required documents and application fee payment.
  • Upload required documents including degree certificates, mark sheets, caste certificate (if applicable), GATE/NET score card (if available), and a Statement of Research Proposal.
