NIT Warangal: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 4 Reviews

Admission to NIT Warangal is based on GATE scores, followed by the CCMT counseling process, which involves creating a merit list. The faculty is highly regarded for its practical approach to education. The institution emphasizes hands-on learning with engaging laboratory sessions. NIT Warangal has relatively higher fees among NITs. For undergraduate students, the semester fee is Rs. 35,000, with additional hostel and mess costs. M.Tech students face a structured fee system per semester: Rs. 41,600 for the first and third semesters and Rs. 42,800 for the second and fourth, including hostel fees but excluding mess charges.

Despite the costs, the college boasts a strong placement record. The 2018 placement cycle achieved 100% placement for 16 students, a trend that continues annually. Smaller batch sizes enhance attention and placement prospects for undergraduates, while postgraduate placements vary by department, with Computer Science faring better than Electrical Engineering. Around 7-10 companies recruit M.Tech students annually, while B.Tech students have opportunities from over 50 companies. SC/ST/PWD students are exempt from tuition fees but pay for mess and hostel.

Scholarships and GATE-qualified M.Tech students receive financial support, and loans are available for those from weaker financial backgrounds. The total annual cost, including hostel, ranges from INR 1.25 to 1.5 lakh, with an additional INR 80,000 for accommodation. Despite being among the more expensive NITs, with around INR 2 lakhs needed for an M.Tech degree, the investment is justified by excellent placement opportunities. Continuous academic improvement is required for scholarships and financial aid eligibility.

NIT Warangal M.Tech Automobile Engineering FAQs

Ques. What is the GATE cutoff score required for M.Tech Automobile Engineering at NIT Warangal?

Ans. Based on CCMT 2025 data, the GATE cutoff score for M.Tech Automobile Engineering at NIT Warangal (Open category) was approximately 392 in the Mechanical Engineering (ME) paper. For OBC-NCL, the cutoff was around 351, and for SC, it was around 326. These cutoffs vary each year depending on the number of applicants and the difficulty of the GATE paper. Candidates should check the official CCMT website (ccmt.admissions.nic.in) for the most accurate opening and closing scores for each round.

Ques. Is the GATE stipend of Rs. 12,400/month actually paid regularly at NIT Warangal?

Ans. Yes, the GATE stipend of Rs. 12,400 per month is paid regularly to all GATE-qualified M.Tech students admitted through CCMT at NIT Warangal. The stipend is credited to the student's bank account on a monthly basis. However, the stipend is contingent on maintaining satisfactory academic performance and regular attendance. Students who fail to maintain the required academic standards may have their stipend suspended. The stipend effectively covers the tuition fee and a significant portion of hostel and mess expenses.

Ques. Can I get admission to M.Tech Automobile Engineering at NIT Warangal without a GATE score?

Ans. Yes, it is possible to get admission without a GATE score through the M.Tech (Self Finance) route via the NIT Warangal Institute Spot Round (ISR), which is conducted in August each year for vacant seats. However, this route does not carry the GATE stipend, and the tuition fee is higher at Rs. 50,000 per semester (compared to Rs. 35,000 for GATE-qualified students). Additionally, all candidates applying for the Self Finance route must appear for a written test and interview conducted by the Mechanical Engineering department. The written test is based on the GATE syllabus for Mechanical Engineering.

Ques. What are the career prospects after M.Tech Automobile Engineering from NIT Warangal?

Ans. M.Tech Automobile Engineering graduates from NIT Warangal have strong career prospects in both the core automotive sector and adjacent industries. Core automotive companies such as Tata Motors, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Bosch, and Ashok Leyland recruit from NIT Warangal. Additionally, with the growing electric vehicle (EV) sector, graduates with knowledge of EV powertrains and battery management systems are in high demand at companies like Ola Electric, Ather Energy, and global OEMs. Graduates can also pursue PhD programmes at IITs, IISc, or international universities, or qualify for PSU recruitment through GATE at the M.Tech level.

The hostel fee for the odd semester of 2026-27 is Rs. 43,000, which includes caution deposit, maintenance charges, seat rent, water and electricity charges, and mess deposit advance. The monthly mess bill is debited from the mess deposit advance. Students are allotted hostel rooms based on availability, and the institute ensures accommodation for all admitted students.

Student Snaps:

Fees and Financial Aid:

Nit Warangal is most expensive among other NITs. Here the fee is too much. if want to complete your m.tech degree then you have to invest about approx. 2 lakhs. but all this is worth it if you get campus placement from college. Many of the company come to college so better to prepare for that. Nit Warangal is always famous for its placement record. So, if you prepare well then you will get placed that for sure.

For sc/st/pwd students, tuition fees is not applicable so they won't have to pay the hostel fee. Just the mess charges and the hostel fee are to be paid. Apart from that, different scholarship programs are conducted for fee concession if we qualify that.
