Cardiff Metropolitan University Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Cardiff Metropolitan University sets clear academic and language bars for Indian applicants, with the same thresholds applied to both September and January intakes.
Postgraduate requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree: Three-year Indian bachelor’s with 55%+ aggregate (Indian second class, equivalent to a UK 2:2) for most taught master’s
- English proficiency: IELTS 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5 for taught master’s; IELTS 6.5 with 6.5 in reading and writing for research degrees
- Credential verification: Consolidated marksheets and transcripts required; WES evaluation recommended for faster admissions decisions
- MBA additional: Two to three years of documented professional work experience, a personal statement and two academic or professional references
Undergraduate requirements:
- Class 12: Aggregate of 65-70% in CBSE, ICSE or an equivalent state board; subject alignment required for computing, engineering and design tracks
- English proficiency: IELTS 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each component
Verify course-specific higher band scores at cardiffmet.ac.uk before booking English tests.
Key insight: Cardiff Metropolitan University waives the IELTS requirement for Indian applicants whose Class 12 English carries 65% or higher from a recognised board, or who completed a full bachelor’s degree in English medium with an official medium-of-instruction letter, cutting one document from the visa file.
Cardiff Metropolitan University Acceptance Rate 2027
Cardiff Metropolitan University does not publish an official acceptance rate. Third-party analysis of application-to-offer data suggests the university admits around 64% of applicants across UG and PG routes (estimated figure).
The 64% figure covers all applicants and does not split by nationality or programme. Competitive routes such as MSc Health Psychology and the MBA typically sit below this average due to portfolio, work-experience and interview conditions attached to the offer.
Reality check: Indian applicants with a UK 2:2 equivalent, IELTS 6.0 and a complete document set at first submission have historically converted at a higher rate than the university average. Cardiff Metropolitan University screens on academic and English fit rather than competitive selection for standard routes.

Cardiff Metropolitan University vs Peer Universities
The peer set below covers post-1992 United Kingdom universities that Indian students commonly compare with Cardiff Metropolitan University on fees, employability and Graduate Route eligibility.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | Acceptance Rate | Avg Annual PG Fee | Median Salary | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cardiff Metropolitan University | Not ranked | around 64% (estimated) | £17,600 (₹22.61 lakh) | £26,000-£30,000 (₹33.40-38.54 lakh) (market median) | Silver TEF; top 15 global for International Student Support |
| London Metropolitan University | NA | NA | NA | NA | Central London location; strong post-2000 international intake (side-by-side view) |
| Coventry University | NA (verify at qs.com) | NA | NA | NA | Automotive Engineering and Cyber Security depth (side-by-side view) |
| University of Sunderland | Not ranked | NA | NA | NA | Pharmacy and Journalism strengths; London campus option |
Cardiff Metropolitan University stands apart from these peers on two counts. It carries a Silver Teaching Excellence Framework rating and holds a top-15 global position for International Student Support, both verified metrics that London Metropolitan and Sunderland do not match. Its Cardiff location cuts living costs by 40-45% versus London-based peers.
Cardiff Metropolitan University fits the Indian applicant who wants a career-focused United Kingdom taught master’s, Graduate Route eligibility and Cardiff living costs at £30,000-£33,000 (₹38.54-42.39 lakh) all-in for the first year versus an expected mid-career salary of £26,000-£30,000. The ROI ratio of roughly 1.1x programme cost against year-one earnings makes the maths tighter than a Russell Group route, though the applied curriculum and paid placement year narrow that gap.
For Indian students, the Graduate Route delivers a two-year window to convert Cardiff Metropolitan’s applied training into a Skilled Worker visa role in Cardiff, Bristol or the M4 corridor. The Silver TEF, top-15 global support ranking and 96.3% Wales-leading employment outcome give the visa file the credibility United Kingdom Visas and Immigration checks against.
Applicants targeting a Russell Group brand for consulting, investment banking or research-heavy PhD routes should look at Cardiff University or comparable Russell Group institutions instead. Cardiff Metropolitan University optimises for applied taught outcomes rather than research prestige.
Cardiff Metropolitan University FAQs
Ques. Does Cardiff Met require GRE or GMAT for postgraduate admission?
Ans. Cardiff Metropolitan University does not require GRE or GMAT for any taught master’s, MBA or MSc programme. Admission for Indian applicants runs on the bachelor’s aggregate (55%+ Indian second class), IELTS 6.0 or 6.5, and for the MBA, two to three years of documented professional experience. Portfolio or interview conditions apply for BPS-accredited MSc Health Psychology and specific design routes rather than a standardised test score.
Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University?
Ans. Yes. The Student visa granted with a Cardiff Metropolitan University Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies allows 20 hours of part-time work per week during term and full-time during official vacation weeks. Ques. Which Indian banks provide education loans for Cardiff Metropolitan University students?
Ans. State Bank of India, HDFC Credila, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and Avanse recognise Cardiff Metropolitan University for education loan sanction against the CAS letter. Cardiff Metropolitan University Reviews

Likes
- Well organised course structure
- Labs and development kitchen facilities (a huge Food Industry centre)
- Amazing career services for CV and Cover letter help
Dislikes
- Covid batch - online classes in the same fee
- No direct placement opportunities at that time - placement needs to be secured by ourselves.
- Too many students in masters course - should have been limited to 30 or less. It was 60 in my course in that year.
Campus Life
- Unfortunately, I cannot comment on this much, as a lot of things were closed due to Covid. However, I was given the opportunity to become the course representative of my course, which was really nice. Students also have the chance to enroll in different sports clubs or other literary clubspart-time roles are also available.
- There will be a nice freshers and Cardiff Met has got a lot of international student communities based on countries and there is a huge Indian community that celebrates festivals as well.
Fees
- My total fees were 13000; however, i received £3,000 scholarship. So that was taken off from my total fees. When I accepted the offer , I needed to pay £3000 to secure my seat. Remaining fees were meant to be paid in installments.
- Second year was a placement year - this year’s fee was £1800, which I had the option to pay in 2 installments. Living expenses back then were cheap; however, I would say 500£ for rent , 150£ for food, 100£ for travel, etc. An international student can live in the UK on a budget of £1000 monthly, dependent on area living (London is very expensive).

Dislikes
- There was no much party places in cardiff.
- Students was mostly from out of UK.

Campus Life
Three campuses and there was most of the sports area for all the sports, and there were at least 20 events done in college by an in-house corporation ELX, and sports and annual days are common in all the colleges.
Likes
- I like there are multi-national people visiting the university.
- I like the way faculty interact with students.
- I like the environment and different cultures of the university.
Dislikes
- The only thing I don't like is academic subjects need to be added to the AI subject and there are no written exams only assignments.
Overview
I chose this university because of the culture in Wales UK with multinational people around. No racism the environment is too good. Overall experience with the university is Good.
Campus Life
Clubs were too good in Wales, when I went to university in 2020 there was COVID-19 so all my student life went with work and learning from home but overall we visited were few times but campus life is good. Coming to extracurricular activities that was the period where we were in only homes.
Overview
The city was affordable and the university fees for my course were comparatively lesser than other universities.
Fees
13000 GBP is the program fee.
