- Well organised course structure
- Labs and development kitchen facilities (a huge Food Industry centre)
- Amazing career services for CV and Cover letter help
Dislikes
- Covid batch - online classes in the same fee
- No direct placement opportunities at that time - placement needs to be secured by ourselves.
- Too many students in masters course - should have been limited to 30 or less. It was 60 in my course in that year.
Course Curriculum
- Since it is a different course structure as compared to India, it was new and challenging initially, however once you get into it, it’s the most enjoyable process. My course was dissertation based not research based which meant at the end of 1 year, I will have to choose a topic and conduct a theoretical project on it.
- The course was mix of theoretical and practical. Practicals was mostly process and product development lab sessions. Product development project was to make a new food product which again was part of practical sessions.
- Its assignments based degree which means there were no exams, just assignments for each module / subject. A lot of literature reviews , poster presentations etc.
- There were 60 students in my course , of which around 40 were Indian.
Fees
- My total fees were 13000; however, i received £3,000 scholarship. So that was taken off from my total fees. When I accepted the offer , I needed to pay £3000 to secure my seat. Remaining fees were meant to be paid in installments.
- Second year was a placement year - this year’s fee was £1800, which I had the option to pay in 2 installments. Living expenses back then were cheap; however, I would say 500£ for rent , 150£ for food, 100£ for travel, etc. An international student can live in the UK on a budget of £1000 monthly, dependent on area living (London is very expensive).
