UCAS has confirmed January 28, 2027 at 6pm UK time as the equal consideration deadline for UK 2027 undergraduate entry. The date closes the main review window for Indian students applying to UK universities. UCAS published the schedule on its official 2027 cycle key dates page. The earlier October 15, 2026 deadline still governs Oxford, Cambridge, medicine, dentistry and veterinary applications.

  • The equal consideration close falls at 6pm UK time (11:30pm IST) on January 28, 2027, ending equal review for most undergraduate courses.
  • Oxford, Cambridge, medicine, dentistry and veterinary applicants must file 15 weeks earlier, by 6pm UK time on October 15, 2026.
  • Applications after January 28 enter the late window, where universities review only where seats remain.

UCAS runs a single online form covering up to five UK university choices. The 2027 cycle opened for submissions in September 2026. Indian applicants pay a flat £28.50 for the multi-choice application.

What UCAS Confirmed for the 2027 Cycle

UCAS is the central body handling undergraduate applications across UK universities. The UCAS 2027 key dates page lists January 28, 2027 as the equal consideration deadline. Any application submitted by this cut-off must be treated on the same footing as every other on-time application.

The 2027 cycle opened in September 2026 through the UCAS Hub. Indian applicants can add up to five course choices on one form. The deadline applies uniformly across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Key Insight: Equal consideration does not mean guaranteed review. It means universities cannot reject an on-time application purely on timing. After January 28, 2027, the same course may still accept applications, but only if it has unfilled seats.

Which Courses Close First on October 15, 2026?

The October cut-off is fixed and non-negotiable for four course groups.

Course TypeDeadline (UK Time)Deadline (IST)
Oxford (all undergraduate)6pm, 15 October 202611:30pm, 15 October 2026
Cambridge (all undergraduate)6pm, 15 October 202611:30pm, 15 October 2026
Medicine and Dentistry6pm, 15 October 202611:30pm, 15 October 2026
Veterinary Medicine and Science6pm, 15 October 202611:30pm, 15 October 2026
All Other Undergraduate Courses6pm, 28 January 202711:30pm, 28 January 2027

Indian applicants targeting Oxbridge or a UK medical school have under 30 days from today to complete the form, sit any admissions test, and clear the reference and personal statement. Missing the October date closes the option for that entire 2027 cycle.

How Does the January 28 Deadline Work for Indian Students?

UCAS sets a single hour for the close: 6pm UK time. That converts to 11:30pm IST on January 28, 2027. Applications with a payment timestamp after that hour count as late, even if submitted seconds after.

The equal consideration rule protects on-time applicants in three ways. First, universities cannot use a full waitlist to reject the file. Second, decisions must return to the applicant in a set window. Third, the applicant retains full access to UCAS Extra if all five choices decline.

What it means for Indian Students: The 11:30pm IST cut-off falls mid-week on a Thursday. Sending the payment at 11:29pm IST is on time; a payment gateway retry at 11:31pm IST is late. Pay the fee at least six hours before the deadline.

What Is the UCAS 2027 Application Fee for Indian Students?

UCAS charges £28.50 for the standard application covering up to five choices. At ₹110 per GBP (September 2026), that equals roughly ₹3,135. The fee is non-refundable once the application is submitted.

The UCAS fee is only the application charge. It does not include the UK Student Visa fee, the Immigration Health Surcharge, or any admissions-test fees for medicine or Oxbridge. Indian applicants should budget those separately.

What Happens After January 28, 2027?

UCAS keeps applications open past the January 28 deadline, but the process changes. Between 29 January and 30 June 2027, applications enter the late window. Universities review them only if the course still has seats.

UCAS Extra opens on 28 February 2027. It lets applicants add a sixth choice if all five original choices have been declined or withdrawn. Clearing opens in July 2027, matching remaining candidates to unfilled seats on results day.

Your Action Plan for the 2027 Cycle

  1. Register on the UCAS Hub and start the form before mid-October 2026.
  2. Lock your IELTS or TOEFL score before December 2026.
  3. Send the personal statement for referee review by early December 2026.
  4. Submit the application and pay £28.50 before 6pm UK time on January 28, 2027.
  5. Track offers through UCAS Track from February 2027.

Indian applicants targeting the UK 2027 cycle now face two firm windows. Oxbridge and health-course applicants must submit by 6pm UK time on October 15, 2026. The main equal consideration cut-off follows on January 28, 2027 at 6pm UK time (11:30pm IST). Missing either date drops the file into the lower-priority late review.

Keep an Eye On: The Oxbridge, medicine, dentistry and veterinary deadline lands first at 6pm UK time (11:30pm IST) on October 15, 2026. UCAS then closes the main equal-consideration window at the same hour on January 28, 2027.
