University of Cambridge Mature Students Admission

If you are 21 years or older by 1 October in the year you begin your studies at Cambridge, you will be considered a mature student. The university has 3 colleges for mature students aged 21 and above:

• Hughes Hall
• St Edmund’s
• Wolfson.

As a mature applicant, you have additional College choices and the option to apply in March for certain subjects.

• These mature Colleges provide a supportive environment where you can live and study alongside peers with more life experience, rather than recent school-leavers.
• You will still be part of the broader University community, engaging with students from other Colleges through lectures, clubs, and societies.
• This setting is beneficial for students returning to education and helps them to adjust and succeed.

University of Cambridge Admission Decision Dates

University of Cambridge decision date for undergraduate programs is on August 2025. If you apply for a graduate program before the funding deadline in December or January, you can expect a decision by the end of March. The majority of offers are issued in February and March.

University of Cambridge Undergraduate Decisions

The University of Cambridge evaluates each undergraduate application holistically. The Admission Team of the university considers academic records, personal statements, LORs, admissions assessments, contextual data, and interviews (if applicable) while assessing your application.

University of Cambridge Decision Process & Pooling System:

• The Winter Pool allows strong candidates to be reconsidered, with some receiving additional interviews. In 2024, 986 pooled applicants received offers from different Colleges.
• The Summer Pool reviews applicants who narrowly missed their conditions or applied for reconsideration.
• If a college at University of Cambridge is impressed with your application but lacks available places, it may refer your application to other Colleges through the Winter Pool in January or Summer Pool in August.
• Spring Pool is available for mature students applying in March, with decisions finalized by April.
