Remarks

There are a lot of positives about the college. Good placements, esteemed professors, huge campus (upwards of 1000 acres) with surrounding hills and great supportive students. However, one can't cut the shortcomings which include the nefarious education system and the ever plaguing challenge of 85 percent attendance.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum for my branch, industrial design is pretty vague. This being a new branch, professors are having a hard time procuring books and study sources, while emphasis is laid more on creative designing and modelling. Technical aspect is reduced to basic mechanics subjects such as kinematics of machines and mechanics of solids. 3D apps such as CATIA, MATLAB, etc are taught as well. Overall, a designer's perspective is maintained. The exam structure on the other hand is a highly obsolete system which takes bimonthly exams on a semester wise basis. There's a mid term for 30 marks and an end term, of 50 marks, with 20 marks available with the professor. End grades are done using the CGPA system.

Placement Experience

4

The placements in the government institutes (NITs and IITs ) are comparably better than the private ones in the sense that core companies select a given number of students, from the requisite branches. The non core companies have seen a rise in number since non core branches such as industrial design , biomedical etc are on the rise on an international scale The college provides internships to students of pre final and final year. I'm currently in my 3rd year, so the next internship is during the winters.

College Events

5

Two main fests - Innovision, a science fest and NITRutsav , a culture oriented one. Either of these fests see celebrity events and 3 day long carnivals along with participation from various state run colleges.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure for general category students is HIGHLY expensive. Generals pay 100000 each sem, OBCs pay 70000, and finally, SC&ST pay a variate amount between 30000 to 50000, depending upon their categories. As is visible, the generals are in a way paying for the other categories, which indeed is a very saddening prospect, given that financial aid is not given on the basis of financial condition, rather on the basis of category

Fees and Financial Aid

There are numerous college loans that can be availed by students during their admission time. A variety of banks from around the country open up stalls offering student koans which then can be paid back after the student completes their degree

Campus Life

5

There are a lot of sports facilities around the campus. Football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, each sport has its own individual court. There are numerous gyms in each hostel. There's a swimming pool as well for those who prefer swimming.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes I live in hostel. Hostels are furnished well however, you are eligible for a single room only from the 3rd year. Bathrooms and toilets are regularly cleaned regardless of the hostel. Boys can opt among 5 hostels while girls can opt among 3

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is definitely getting stronger over the years. The students have already started a club which associates older and newer alumni so as to help them in their job pursuits/ aspirations. Overall, great alumni.

Admission

The admission process for engineering aspirants is highly flawed and named under a single banner, the JEE exams. Under JEE, you have two exams, the basic one, JEE main, which you have to then qualify to sit for JEE advanced, which allows an eligible candidate to take admission in IITs, or indian institute of technology. Those who couldn't qualify , or opt not to choose IIT due to branch preferences, can opt for NITs , which take their students through JEE mains' merit list. Further, during branch selection, you have to put your preferred branch in a list form, putting the most preferred one at the top, and the least preferred at the bottom. After 7 rounds of counselling, if a candidate gets a seat , he's eligible for admission in that specific college and branch.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty in this college are mostly disgruntled, highly unsupportive and in general, grumpy. It's as if they're not interested in their jobs, and all they ever want is to piss students off, and reduce the marks of whoever disturbs them in the slightest bit. The main issue is that there is no student body present in the institute which can address the atrocities student face. Which is why professors have the tendency to do what they wish to and get away with it.

the placement is also not that much great. they are very few companies TCS and Infosys are the mass recuriter here . The core companies are close to null . So you have to go to only to the IT companies that to at a very low package . My students work for as low as 2.5 lac per annum . This year almost everybody was between 3lac to 10lac bracket . The highest on campus package are about 25 lac . Not more than that most of time. and the average package is almost about 3-4 lac per annum . The percentage of the students placed is also really bad . Most of the students have to hurdle by himself.
