IIT Bhubaneswar review

Students life is not much good here. Academics are ok but students face extreme rules and fines for trash reasons. And you wouldn't be able to argue with them. Here we have no good ground till August 2019, broken glasses in many infrastructures due to fani cyclone (still not repared).

Course curriculum is very heavy. We have to study about 30 hrs a week, which is the highest among all respective branches. But specially for our institute, mechanical is the best taught coarse and have a bunch of very special and talented faculties from IIT Kharagpur.

Average placement scenario in 2017-18 was, highest from my branch was 31 lakhs and the average was 10.5 lakhs per annum. And yes our college specially for mechanical provides a special internship program at the end of our third year. Stipend, I don't know, but we have summer training program.

Alma feista, wessenaire, E-SUMMIT and Ashwamedha are the fests which we celebrate every year. It is 2 to 3 days event having a lot of fun activities. Apart from that we celebrate holi, dipawali, Independence day and Republic day with our whole IIT family.

I think it is a bit expensive for us(middle class) but it does have a lot of scholarships with it. But it is about 1.3 lakhs per semester for general and obc students. And for sc/st it is about 30 k per semester.

You could go to our site iitbbs.ac.in and there check for various scholarship programs. There you will get a lot more accurate information about scholarships. Rest few which i know are mcm, Navodaya students scholarship,etc. We have 0% interest loan named as vidya laksmi Yojana.

Labs are very awesome. They are full of a lot of advanced equipments which cost upto millions rupees. In extracurricular activities we have drama, singing, dancing, literature, arts, yoga, space society, coding society, etc. Sports facilities are not that good but ok.

Hostel infrastructures are good enough to live. We have 4 hostels inside our campus. First is Mahanadi hall of residence(capacity 800), subernrekha hall of residence(capacity 400) , bramhaputra hall of residence(capacity 800) and ganga hall of residence(capacity 800)

There is a portal in our website where there are a lot of alumnus list with their contact number. You can directly contact them. And our campus is a ragging free campus. So, every senior here are very friendly to us. They are little helpful.

I have secured an ok rank in JEE Advanced 2018. After 7 rounds of tiresome Jossa counseling, i had got a dual degree course in the field of mechanical engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar. It was a result of hardwork and dedication for two years.

Faculties are very friendly and we can ask them any doubt. They wouldn't judge us for that. They are highly qualified and experienced, and knows very well to teach us awesome stuff in a very effective manner. Specially for mechanical, we have most of the faculties directly from our father institute IIT Kharagpur.
