Course Curriculum Overview

4

Journalism is a vast field with expusure to fields like journalist, anchors, editors, copy writers, content writers, video editors, designers and many more. The curriculum well prepares us students for the industry. However they can improve by giving us more practical exposure rather than theory. The exams are quite easy with real life application based questions which are beyond the textbooks

Internships Opportunities

4

The top recruiting are for placements are Bharat Express, PR Guru, Amar Ujala, Dynamite News, T.H.E.M.E.S. Over 90% of the students were placed for internship in Amar Ujala, PR Guru, Aaj Tak, ABP News and Doordarshan. Top roles offered are journalist, content writer, anchor, film maker, and back end roles like video editor, graphic designer etc.

Placement Experience

4

80% students are placed through DME with a package of 5 LPA to 7 LPA on an average which is quite decent for a fresher entering the industry. Top roles offered are journalist, content writer, anchor, film maker, and back end roles like video editor, graphic designer and many more. I personally plan to go into video editing after getting the degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

First year fees is 126000 Rs, and for the rest 2 years it is 116000 Rs payable every year. The fees includes tuition fees, admission fees, value course fees etc. Scholarships are available for students who score a rank in the top 3 with a cash reward of 15000 Rs (rank 1), 10000 Rs (rank 2) and 5000 Rs (rank 3).

Campus Life

4

The infrastructure of DME is quite elegant and important for the practical exposure of the students to prepare them for the real industry. We have library, amphitheatre, studio, seminar hall, moot court, flip classroom, auditorium. The quality of food in our hostel is quite decent and tasty. The canteen offers a variety of food. The medical facilities are excellent in DME. We also have an indoor sports room which offers table tennis, carrom, major board games. DME also offers a variety of events and fests which includes diwali fest, our annual cultural fest ALOHA, our department fest MEDIA FEST - VRITIKA and much more. The first three toppers gets offered with scholarship and medal.

Admission

I applied to various other colleges both inside the state and outside the state however DME being a semi government institute and being the nearest one to my place of residence was the best option for me. The admission process was very simple and direct not too high cutoffs and easy documentation. My admission experience was very simple.

Faculty

4

There is a minimal amount of faculty but good enough. I like Ms Divya Rastogi and the Head of the Department Ms Parul Mehra for being so approachable and helping us at every step. All the teachers are really helpful in clearing doubts and providing self made notes. The teaching quality is top notch with clear explanations. The curriculum is very relevant to prepare the students for the industry. The semester exams are held every month and final externals at the end of semester, they are mediocre level difficulty with 40% pass percentage. Most of the students pass the exams.

Night Life

5

personally our favourite hangout spots around the campus are the amphitheatre and the little food stalls outside with alot of delicious food and drinks. The library is also a good spot for those who like privacy and silence. All kinds of books are available there

Placements of our colleges and mediocre. From 6th semester students become elegible for campus placement. The highest package offered was 6LPA and the average package is 3-4 LPA. Placement depends upon the students applying for placement through college. Many students gets internships or jobs by themselves before even reaching placement cell.

Students become eligible for placement during their final year of college. DME offers several different companies that it has tie ins with for placements to students such as Gadgets 360, Aaj Tak, Myntra, PTI and D&P. 70-80% students get a good placement package. My personal plan following graduation is to pursue my higher education in correspondence with employment.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself was nothing out of the ordinary material, it teaches you the basics of the field but the faculties were pretty good and helped us understand not just the basic but a little more so that we could actually be able to work in the environment once we get there. Also they organise workshops which was mandatory for all the students without any extra charge to learn from professional what to do and how to do it best. We also used to get projects which actually helped alot in learning with practice the theory.
