What Students Say
Likes
- If you are very hardworking in this college, you might be able to join a good company. But you need to have very exceptional with your skills.
Dislikes
- College is 74 kms away from Bhopal, and the campus is literally in a remote village. Thus, transportation and commute are very difficult.
- At times, it feels like they are just selling the name of VIT. The syllabus is different from VIT Vellore and the facilities and infrastructure are nothing when compared to VIT Vellore.
- Probably the worst part, your attendance is graded. Which means if you get absent from the class due to whatever reasons, your marks will get deducted, which will harm you a lot during final calculation of marks.
Course Curriculum Overview
Following the herd, I too have chosen Computer Science engineering. I'm not sure whether the curriculum is suited for the real world or not, so not going to comment on that. Difficulty of exams depends on the faculty preparing the question paper. But since the grading is relative, the difficulty doesn't matter much but an easy question paper is still considered better.
Internships Opportunities
You get internships if you work very hard and acquire skills. Some companies which hire for internships are IBM, HPE, Intuit, etc. Projects and outcome greatly depend on the student. The role of college is generally very small and most of the work has to be done by the student. Some students do acquire internship while a lot of students don't.
Placement Experience
Placements depend on your CGPA and skills. Average is low, around 4-5 LPA but the original average package hasn't been disclosed yet, Students become eligible for placements by 5th semester but it depends on whether they have completed the required credits or not. Companies which visit are product and skill based companies, along with several other companies like TCS, Infosys, Zomato, CITI, Ford, etc. Highest package uptill now is 70 LPA. Percantage of students who have been placed till now is yet to be declared. My plan after the degree is to get placed in a company.
Fees and Financial Aid
My yearly tution fee is rupees 2,00,000(2 Lakh) and if you opt for hostel, then hostel fees is between rupees 1,09,000 to 2,10,100. Your hostel fees depends on the type of room and bed you have chosen. Both the tution fees and hostel fees increase every year, with very little increment in the tution fees but high increment in the hostel fees. Now this tution fees of 2 lakh is not same for everybody. For Category 1 only, it's 2 lakh and for the other categories, Cat- 2 to Cat-5, the fees increases by 1 lakh. So far Cat-2, it is 3 lakh per annum and for Cat-5, it's somewhat 5 Lakh per annum. You also have to pay various other kinds of fees like counselling fee(INR 6000), admission fee(INR 15000), hostel admission fee(INR 15000 refundable fee + INR 17500 non- refundable fee), etc. At the moment, this university has no scholarship scheme of its own.
Campus Life
There is one fest, called Advitya fest, and I'm not sure about my experience as I didn't attend it. It's held during February. Number of books are very low in the Library. The Library itself is in a section of the main academic building, there is not separate building for library. Classrooms are standard, and there is a projector in some classes. Sports are held during Advitya fest. There are also some club activities going throughout. There are a lot of clubs, to the point that you don't even know that this particular club even existed before you accidentaly hear its name. Whether they are good or not, I'm not sure as I'm a part of none.
Hostel Facilities
There is a fan and table to study in the room. Facility of AC is provided but it's upto you whether you opt for it or not. Meal quality is very poor, and you will be usually skipping meals. Registration process is simple, just pay the fees and get admission but considering the affordbility, hostel charges are sky-high and insanely overpriced, keeping in mind the below average facilities provided. Renting a PG or room is very difficult as the college is situated in a village. Poor Infrastructure is one of the worst aspects of this college.
Admission
Since my JEE Mains percentile was not good, I couldn't make it to NITs or top GFTIs. The reason I too admission into this college was basically family pressure. I wasn't very eager to come here but that was how things played out. I did wrote COMEDK exam but couldn't get a top branch in a top college. Admission procedure is like you have to write the VITEEE exam and based on your rank, you get admission into different campuses of VIT.
Faculty
Intake is really high, so student to teacher ratio too is very poor. Whether the faculties are approachable and helpful or not, depends on the them only. I don't want to disclose the names of the faculties whom I dislike, but it's generally advised to not chose black-listed faculties. Regarding exams, there is a Mid-term and End-term. Final semester score depends on both of them plus, there are practicals too coupled with attendance marks.
Night Life
There's a normal gym and paid gym. Normal gym is really small and facilities are limited. Paid gym is yet to be opened but I've heared it's going to be overpriced. Library is pretty bad, not even a separate building. And there arre little to no other special facilities except a few sports areas. Hostel and campus timing are very strict, and even stricter for girls. There is no famous hangout place in the college. People sit and talk in some places near canteen but its arbitrary. And there is no night life at college at all.
