Course Curriculum Overview
VIT Chennai’s EV curriculum stands out for its interdisciplinary depth, blending mechanical design with power electronics and battery chemistry. It effectively prepares students for the industry through MATLAB simulations and hands-on BMS prototyping, while providing the rigorous theoretical foundation in control systems required for high-level global research. Would you like me to generate a comparison table of the specific EV-focused credits versus the standard mechanical track Curriculum is overall sufficient no need of improvements as such Frequency of exam CAT1( Continuous assessment test 1):- one month after commencement of semester. It is generally easy and simple CAT2:- one month after CAT1 exams complete(on tougher side as this exam is open notes) FAT(Final Assessment Test):- 1.5 months after CAT2 exams complete ( easy to moderate)
Internships Opportunities
VIT Chennai offers good internship opportunities for Mechanical Engineering students through a mix of college-supported programs, faculty references, and student-driven applications. Internships are usually pursued during summer and winter breaks, and students are encouraged to complete at least one internship before final year. Core mechanical companies such as L&T, TVS Motor Company, Ashok Leyland, Hyundai, Bosch, Caterpillar, Saint-Gobain, Renault-Nissan, and Tata Motors have offered internships to students in roles like Mechanical Intern, Production Intern, Quality Intern, Manufacturing Intern, and Design Intern. Stipends typically range from ?5,000 to ?15,000 per month, depending on the company and role, while some research-based internships are unpaid but provide strong academic exposure.

Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities at VIT Chennai are well-organized and provide a comfortable living environment for students. Hostels offer single, double, and multiple-sharing rooms, with basic furniture such as a bed, study table, chair, wardrobe, ceiling fan, lighting, and Wi-Fi connectivity. Rooms are maintained regularly, and common facilities like water coolers, laundry services, housekeeping, reading rooms, and common TV areas are available. Security is strict, with biometric or ID-based entry, wardens, and CCTV surveillance, ensuring student safety. The mess food quality is average to good, with a rotating menu offering South Indian, North Indian, and occasional continental options. While the food is hygienic and filling, taste can feel repetitive over time, though special meals are provided during festivals. Multiple food courts and cafés on campus help students manage variety beyond the mess. Hostel registration is conducted through the VIT online portal (VTOP) during admission or before each academic year. Rooms are allotted based on availability, year of study, and preference, and the process is smooth but competitive. Hostel fees are moderately high but reasonable considering the facilities, security, and proximity to academic blocks. Overall, the hostel life at VIT Chennai is structured, safe, and convenient, contributing positively to the student experience.
Admission
I applied for SRM, once considered admission in LPU but finally chose VIT due it's reputation and strong placements. Other colleges which I applied for required strong jee scores for admission. Admission process in VIT is as follows:- 1) write VITEEE exam cause vit doesn't considers jee scores. 2) you must have above 60 percent in boards and above or equal to 60 percent in PCM aggregate. 3)cutoffs, past papers, closing and opening ranks are not revealed si can't say much regarding that. 4) overall admission experience was decent

CAT2 is open notes exam so questions are generally on the tougher side FAT is easy to moderate
Night Life
Nightlife at VIT Chennai is relatively calm and regulated, with more emphasis on on-campus socializing than an active party culture. Hostel life plays a major role in how students unwind after classes. Hostel entry timings are strict, with girls’ hostels usually closing by 9:00–9:30 PM and boys’ hostels by 10:00–10:30 PM, while campus movement is monitored through security and ID checks. The central library generally closes by 8–9 PM, but during exams it often remains open late into the night. The gym and sports facilities are accessible mostly in the early morning and evening hours, while cafeterias and food courts on campus usually remain open until 9–10 PM. Inside the campus, popular hangout spots include the food courts, academic blocks’ open areas, hostels common rooms, and sports grounds, where students relax, chat, play games, or watch movies. Many students unwind by going to the gym, playing badminton or football, group study sessions, or casual late-evening walks within campu
