What Students Say
Likes
- Campus Life is pretty decent here. You can roam freely anytime in campus
- Infrastructure is also quite good. Good well equipped labs
- There is 0 pressure of attendance. 75% attendance is just on paper. Never implement.
Dislikes
- There are a lots and lots of students. At peak you would find lots of student and sometimes feel suffocated
- A company selection chances less than JEE. There are around 3k students per year for btech. So generally a company come for btech bca mca etc. (Many of them). So selection ratio is very less
- Placement are not good. It's september currently. From 1650 students only 220-230 have been placed till now. Out of which 150 are in non tech sales etc. role
Course Curriculum Overview
1. Course curriculum is very nice. It's quite structured. 2. Due to the market demand I choose this course. Like everyone years btech in computer science in well demand 3. But yeah it can be improved. By focusing more on practical knowledge. Also not just theory. Example: they tell how to make AI models but don't tell how to make them accessible for people or millions of people 4.exams are there 2 times a semester. Mid sem and end sem exams. Difficulty level is decent
Internships Opportunities
1. Companies like salescode infineon chetu scaler reltio technologies, baazi games, hike etc. came for internship opportunities. Many companies in campus came for SDEs intern. 2-3 even came for call center jobs lol. And many were sales based 2. So generally 8 cgpa is a safe side. Companies like morgan stanley required 8 cgpa. Some like clarity didn't have this thing imposed.
Placement Experience
1. Students become eligible for placements from around 6th semester. 2. Some companies visited were morgan stanley(girls only mostly, although not specified but they didn't shortlist boys) , juspay, here technologies, salescode ai, scaler, reltio(these are some decent companies which came). Rest all are just startups with very less pay . Some gave 20k in Bangalore or Hyderabad which I think is very less acc to cost of living 3. Highest= juspay (28 lpa). Lowest= 4lpa. Many companies have 4 lpa package 4. Till now around 200-250 students have been placed from 1600. It's september 5 today. Placement season started in january
Fees and Financial Aid
Currently I'm a 4th year student. Our fees structure was fixed for entire 4 years(but for freshers fees will increase by some percent each year) 1. Our fees was 3,60,000 a year. So I had a 50% scholarship so that reduces to 1,80,000 a year 2. Tution fees=3,60,000 . At admission i also paid a 1,00,000 registration fees. 5000 exam fees per semester. And 40,000 security which they said is refundable 3. My batchmate had more or less fees depending on scholarship. At my time there were more or probably many scholarship options . Like if parents in defence or if any parent in Bennett etc. but I guess nowadays max scholarship can't exceed 50. At my time some have 70-80 scholarship too (50 tution, some from defence, 5% if good in sports etc.) 4. For students scholarship are based on various scores. It keeps on changing. For exact amount refer Bennett's website. But at my time scholarship was there based on 12th score of JEE or some other exams you had given. So there were multiple criteria. Also we had if our scholarship is gone but we scored decent cgpa then we can ask them for around 10 % scholarship.
Campus Life
1. Uphoria and zenevia. Months they are held is never fixed. They can happen anytime. But compared to other colleges they are shitty 2. Yes almost every popular book and journal is here. You can even take books home during summer vacations if needed. (By permissions) 3. I mean just there is a big tv screen where lectures are help(ppts are shown so that's it) for technology 4. We have varied range of sports. But each of them overcrowded or not maintained. Like in football field we just see people sleeping or couples romanticising. In cricket field there is bushes grasses etc. Making it difficult. In gyms thats too overcrowded 5. Many student run official chapters are there for tech and non tech like gdsc , etc. unofficial we have sampda (hindus religious organization
Hostel Facilities
1. We have air conditioned rooms , with one fan and 2 bulbs(tubelight). Room comes with each bed , almirah and table for each student. Roof is not painted in any hostel room 2. Meal quality either too good or too bad. Breakfast lunch snacks is okay. Dinner 3-4 times a week is very shitty. 3. Hostel aren't much affordable. For a very small room (size of double bed or even smaller) you pay 1,80,000 a year which isn't justified
Admission
1. I applied at UPES, Graphic ERA , LPU AND chandigarh university. Each of them accepted my application 2. Didn't go to Lpu and currently due to their number of students. It's quite high. Lpu has around 10k students. Thats too too too much. Same for cu. Also reputation of chandigarh university isn't too good due to recent cases same for lpu. I even heard seniors are now being given online classes as campus space is less to accommodate them. Upes has very high fees with very poor placements 4. They will accept you if you are a pass student. I guess above 50 percent. Any jee mains 12th pass any exam is accepted here.
Faculty
1. This ratio is very decent. In labs there is one faculty per 30-40 students. So the ratio is quite good. The relationship between faculty and teacher is also appreciated. And you can always at any time between 9 to 5 whenever faculty is free you can approach them. I have always done this. 2. Yes there was this head of data science called anuj kumar bharti. We really liked him. He was quite approachable. Even at nights he sometimes did google meets to make us understand stuff. So I guess he is in one of the best faculties 3. Some faculties were there which I didn't like. Although I can't name them due to the privacy concerns. But some were there which didn't know how to teach. They were just phd graduates but 0 in communication or explanation 4. Exams are different for each semester. At each sem we have different number of exams. Generally rough estimate around 5-6 exams per semester. Easy enough to clear if u just study teacher notes that too just a night before. I had maintained 8 cgpa. I just started 2-3 days before exam.
Night Life
1. Gyms start at 6 am and close at 11pm. At around 5-8 pm they are toooo overcrowded. Like once i was doing pec dec fly with 8 people in alternate. So 1 hour workout takes 2. Mess food is decent sometimes quite good sometimes quite bad. Mess timing 7:30-9 breakfast 12-3 lunch 5-6 snacks 8-10 dinner You can go anytime outside of hostel and roam in college. But for going outside campus you have restrictions. (For leave outpass go anytime) For day outpass you can just go between 7 am and 7pm Inside there are just food functions where people hangout or just roam around. Outside there are malls where people go but they are more than 10km away. And outside locality isn't much safer
