What Students Say
Likes
- The most likeable part about the university is the diversity of courses, we have 12 different schools operating in the same campus and some of the schools are exclusive in the whole country, there are a alot centre of excellences.
- The another likeable factor is diversity amongst the students, we have IAS/IPS/Defence people coming for training, we have international students. So there is alot of scope for exposure.
Dislikes
- The campus hostel is merit based, you have to take hostel off campus if you don't get a seat in the campus
- The campus is very small, just 12.5 acres.
- All the schools are relatively very new, so there is a very small alumni base.
Course Curriculum Overview
One of the major reasons why I chose this course was that this was very unique , bsc in data science along with LLB is very new in the market, although it has it's own drawbacks, in the real world, there is not much demand for technocrat lawyers right now but with time this will increase. The major improvement would be the inclusion of other fields of law like IP, arbitration etc. There are three components for exams, one is mid sems which is held in the starting two months of the semester and after two months is the end sems. The semester are pretty short which is why we get time for internships and which provides us very nice exposure for real-world.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees is 140000 (2 semesters), there are state specific scholarships for ST/SC students and also some private organisations like Aditya Birla and TATA provide their scholarships. State Specific Scholarships for ST/SC students (Merit Cum Need)- For example Rajasthan State provides 10000-20000 per month
Campus Life
There are no such festivals, the only festival organised in the university is during Navratri in Sept-October. There is a sports week in April and in the Law School we have Integration week in April-May and Foundation week in September. There are a lot of books considering there 12 different schools operating on campus, from microbiology to law to python, there is everything in the library and the library infrastructure is top notch. The classroom has first world Country infrastructure, we have projectors, screens, mics, podiums and aesthetics of the classroom is great. There is no such core committees of University. The law school has Moot Court Committee, Sports and Cultural committee, Internship Assistance Cell, Literary and Debating Society, Music Club and Pro Bono and Legal Aid Cell. These societies are relatively fun and provide a lot of exposure to the students especially the SACC.
Admission
I applied to MHCET colleges and also NLUs but having a relatively higher rank for tier-1 NLUs for UR category, the MHCET colleges having high reservation, I could make it in both of them. Also there were some colleges in Delhi too but NFSU had a lot of exposure, institute of national importance status and a growing name in every field, so I chose this college over other. The admission is on the basis of CLAT Rank, for the UR category the cutoff goes upto 5000 and Reserved category even higher. The admission experience was very easy. The admission form fees is 1500 rupees and they release a merit list, during my time there were 30 seats for UR category and 30 for reserved category, then follows online counseling then once confirmed you're called for the physical counselling on campus.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 1:20. The faculties are pretty approachable even on WhatsApp, it's pretty easy to ask them anything. The best faculty is Dr. Shubham Pandey, helped me alot in my research paper. All the faculties are pretty good. There is not one faculty I don't like. In a semester there are 6 subjects, the course is pretty hectic to manage along with the internships. There is a good chunk that fails but is allowed to re appear for compartment exams.
Night Life
I live off campus, talking about the on campus facilities, the hostel are really good as international students also live there but pretty expensive. The hostel has a small gym, a night canteen and lift for handicapped students. It has four floors. Non Ac and Ac rooms with attached bathrooms and washrooms. The in campus timings in 10pm-5:30am. There are no such famous places, we have some fast food and tea places behind the campus as the place is very near the VidhanSabha and Police Directorate of Gujarat it is a pretty safe place, in totality the whole gandhinagar is a very safe place and the people are also really good.
