What Students Say
Likes
- Good campus and decent atmosphere. The infrastructure is good.
- Faculty is also good they have PhD done professors who have good grasp of subjects. Associate professors are decent and they are fresh M.Tech graduates.
- Acessibility of the college is good as it is on the main highway pretty much near from city centre
Dislikes
- The atendance policy of 75% is very strict and even at 74% attendance they send a letter to home and don't allow us to take unit exams
- The uniform wearing policy is also strict in first year even the HOD comes to check the uniform which is quite strange
- Certain charges are forced on students like buying a departmnetal T-shirt or else the admit caed would be withheld this atitude is not good
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is more theoretical and less practical, as is the case with most engineering curricula in India. With workshops and other add-on activities like robotics training and SCADA training, you can get some real, practical skills. The lab experiments are basic and not very effective for the industry demand.
Placement Experience
There is a placement cell that helps with information about the job drives, and they also hold a placement drive for certain companies like TCS. Overall placement is decent, but not 100%. Students have to put in more. Most of the time, non-tech jobs are also referred to the engineering students.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for the B.Tech (ECE) prorgam is INR 1,70,600 per year. This includes all the charges from tuition fees, university fees, exam fees, etc. A security deposit is also covered under it, which is INR 5,000 paid in the first year and is refundable after the final semester. There is a registration fee of around INR 2,000 as well. So the effective fee from the 2nd year would be 1,65,000 per year, as registration charges won't be there from the 2nd year. So, the total fee would be somewhere around 6 lakhs for 4 years if you don't opt for hostel or transport from the side of college.
Campus Life
The social life on campus is good, with people from different backgrounds and environments. Boys-to-girls ratio is skewed favouring the boys, but over the years it has been improving. There are no such big clubs to join, but the IEEE club or dance club, or fest club is there, which one can join based on interest. I am not sure how active these clubs are.
Admission
I chose this college as it was among the top 5 colleges of the University in the NCR region. It was established in 2000, and some of my seniors also recommended me. It was good compared to other colleges in the region in terms of placement, infrastructure, academics, and accessibility, which would have been different had I opted for other colleges at that time. I applied for NITs and UP Government college based on the IIT Mains and UPJEE scorecard, but couldn't get the top colleges like HBIT Kanpur. So I opted for the second best option which is ABES.
Faculty
The faculty members are decent, and they have subject knowledge. However, some of them have less experience, like Associate professors, as they are fresh M. Tech graduates are not effective in teaching. You can also talk to the professors for doubts by visiting their cabins. Exams happen semester-wise as per the university. Even semester in May and June, and Odd in December. In each semester, there are two unit tests of some part of the syllabus, and then there is a pre-university exam before the main semester with the full syllabus.
Night Life
The nightlife around college will not be as good as it is highway; however few km towards the Delhi side in Indirapuram, there are happening places, restaurants, and shopping malls where students hang out. Some of the restaurants also used to offer student discounts.
Other Applied Colleges
Lovely Professional University - [LPU] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electronics Engineering)
I didn't opted for it as it was far away from my place of residence. Also I got admission in one of the reputed college in my region so I went for it.
