Course Curriculum Overview
My course is highly relevant to the field of study. The books and materials referenced are also well-known and helps you familiarise well with the subject. Areas of improvement would be to make the teaching curriculum a bit more immersive for theoretical courses.
Internships Opportunities
The college does not help you with internships unless you are really in need of assistance. It is usually upto us to get contacts from faculties, seniors and LinkedIn to secure our own internship. This area should be improved
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for campus placements from the second to last year of their studies. Many companies do visit, though several are based in Punjab or nearby areas. Average package is 3-4 lakhs per anum. 20% get placed while the rest dont really opt for it. Rather, they try to get jobs on their own or though internship which also has good scopes in cities like Delhi. The remaining students go for higher studies. My plan is to pursue higher studies abroad.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year-wise fees I paid, after a 50% scholarship, was 120,000 rupees (60,000 per semester). The registration fees at LPU is 10,000 INR, of which 9000 is a refundable amount if cancelled before a certain mention date before start of classes. Besides tuition fees, we also paid an examination fee of 3000 INR per semester. There are relaxations for certain categories but since I'm from General, I was not eligible to avail these benefits. My batchmates fees differed based on scholarships obtained (30-50% scholarships). The types of scholarships are as follows: 1) 100% scholarship of full programme fee and hostel accomodation (4 seater non-ac) for education board toppers (top 20 rank holders) and university toppers top 50 NIRF/NAAC A++ universities 2) Financial aid under the following categories: -> need based -> orphans -> persons with certaind disability -> LPU rakshak samman anudan -> LPU Shikshak samman anudan
Campus Life
This is my favorite part about the university. It is a very lively place. We've had a couple of Coke Studio fests which I had the pleasure of attending. We have libraries in every educational block along with a huge central library. Sports are also given a lot of attention at LPU
Hostel Facilities
Mess is the best part of hostels. it offers great food and lots of variety and affordable too. the hostel rooms in itself are quite expensive and not worth the facilities. i'd recommend staying in hostel for your first year at LPU and then shifting outside campus to a PG where good mess facilities are also offered and walkable distance from campus. My PG was only a 5 min walk to campus.
Admission
I applied to SRM in Chennai and LPU in Punjab. I got a confirmed admission from both. I chose LPU as I felt it had more of a free culture to it. It also felt very divers and like students from all over India were studying there
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio highly varies for different courses. Courses with good placements rates like CSE and MBA have large class sizes with nearly 100 students per class. Meanwhile courses like Btech Food Technology have about 30. They are manageable class sizes. There are two main exams per semester, mid-term and End-term exams. Besides that there are CAs or continious assessments including projects or written assignments which take place throughout the semester
Night Life
Night-life is decent inside campus. Students can roam around campus till 10 pm, there are food stalls to eat from and public parks and a UniMall to hangout in. There is the Robo park. The admissions block area is also a great hangout spot. Helipad is another great spot
Other Applied Colleges
SRM Institute of Science and Technology - [SRMIST] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Biomedical Engineering)
did not have a Btech Food Technology course in 2021 when I applied.
