Digboi College: A Student's Perspective

There's nothing extra that favoured me to choose the department, I think it is because of I was unaware of the college's faculties. The college provides some real world applicable things, like teaching about good and bad politics, scientific equipments usage, and many other things. Some things that can be improved are, regular classes to all the departments, admission system equalised for all, etc.

I availed the free admission process as I met the criteria for free admission scheme. ?900 was charged as promotion fees in 2nd Semester. If the students is not a residence of Assam or doesn't have any Income certificate with limit of below 2 Lakhs annual income, they had to pay more than ?7,000 during 1st semester admission.

They held limited celebrations or festivals at the college. One is, Saraswati Puja, 2ndly- College Week, 3rdly- our college is achieving its diamond jublee celebration this year. Necessary books are available in the college library, also the professors have also contributed some Classrooms are same like the other colleges, old type, some departments have projectors availability, but used very limitedly.

I did not attempt on any other colleges as I was sure of here and also I wanted here itself. I did not get rejected as I did not apply for any other. There is near to enough faculties provided to the students. The college provides 20 different departments. Departments of Arts: • Assamese, Bengali, Education, Economics, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Nepali, Philosophy, Political Science, Rural Development Departments of Science: • Botany, Chemistry, Electronics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology Department of Commerce: •Commerce

Gym is available only during the morning hours, yet I don't participate in it. No Cafeterias, One library- available from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 AM to 06: AM. Hostels allow their students to get out limitedly, not allowing them during night time due to security concerns. Locality is near to safe during the day hours, but I can't guarantee at night. During night, roads are deserted from after around 11:30 PM.
