Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU is one of the best medical colleges in the country. The faculty in Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU is one of the finest in the country. They have decades of experience and have published numerous articles in various reputed national and international journals.

Course Curriculum Overview

MBBS course lasts for 5.5 years which includes 4.5 years of classroom learning and 1 year of rotatory internship. The course consists of 24 subjects in total. Exams are held after end of each semester. There are also university professional exams after completion of each year.

Placement Experience

At the end of MBBS course, students pursue postgraduation in a speciality. The admission in these MD/MS courses also takes by an entrance test. There is 1 year compulsory rotatory internship in which students get to experience working in all the departments of the attached hospital. The stipend is 23,500 per month.

College Events

The college celebrates various event events in the campus, most of them cultural. There is also a annual college fest called ELIXIR which sees participation of students from various medical colleges of the country.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since BHU is a government college, the fees is feasible for most of the students. The entire MBBS couse fees is less than 50,000. However, there has been a recent increase in the fees and now it is around 1 lac rupees.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides scholarships to the toppers at the end of each professional exam. Subject toppers are awarded with gold medals in the respective subject. There are also scholarships for students with weak financial background.

Campus Life

There are excellent lab facilities in departments such as Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology etc. These provide students hand on experience on using the latest and most advanced equipment available.

Hostel Facilities

There are several hostels in the campus of BHU. These include Ruiya hostel, Dhanwantri hostel, Punarvasu atreya hostel etc. These also have playing facilities, mess, table tennis, badminton etc. The infrastructure is average.

Alumni/Alumna

The college has a great alumni network. The graduates from this college are working various parts of the country and even abroad. There are students working in AIIMS, PGI Chandigarh, SGPGI Lucknow etc.

Admission

The admission takes place by NEET exam. The candidates are allotted medical colleges according to their all india ranks. BHU admits 84 students in each MBBS batch every year. However, this may be increased to 100 students from next year. My rank was 564.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The profession I'm in is medical. The toughest of all. As from the starting I wished to be a doctor. The one who is second to a God. The one who is respected the most. The one who does the most prestigious job. As per the curriculum we have to study all 19 subjects in just 4.5 years plus we have to attend the clinical posting in hospital , which exposes us to real world. The posting time is the time given to students from second year till year last. Improvement can be done in passing the exam part which is 50% in each subject. It can be 40 % marks. Currently I've given my MBBS second year which was hectic because of the vast syllabus. We have total of 5.5 year course for an undergraduate degree. Out of which 4.5 years is about studies rest one year is internship in hospital. We have to study all 19 subjects in just 4.5 years. The mbbs course is very lengthy. Each and every subject is very vast. So we have to study maximum time. So all the very best those who aspire to be a great doctor
