Course Curriculum Overview

3

There was no influence. I had chosen the course on my own. There is room for improvement in how they prepare the curriculum. Only thing i like was that exam timings were really good. Difficulty of exams was also good to deal with. Marking was really tough. Not easy to get good marks.

Fees and Financial Aid

What i paid was 85000 Rs per year and 70000 Rs for hostel fees. Undergraduate courses: BBA had to pay around 50000Rs per year. B. Sc had to pay around 20000Rs per year. B. Phrama had to pay around 80000Rs per year. Diploma courses: Diploma in Engineering had to pay around 30000Rs per year. Diploma in medical had to pay 35000Rs per year. These all may have changed now I am writing from the years 2014-2018

Campus Life

3

Freshers were organized by the college every year. That was most anticipated event of the year. We also had sports mela that was just wow. That was my favourite time of the year. The facilites and technological provisions were limited to only a specific room. There was no such influence of student run socila groups or clubs in the college.

Hostel Facilities

4

I had a AC Room. So it had a AC. Three wardrobes. As i was sharing it with my two friends. Three beds and three study tables. Each one got there own switch board. Two fans. Floor was made up of marble. Walls were colored. Meal qaulity and qauntity were good. But overall not that like we get at home. In last semester we rented a house at mandi gobindgarh in the same locality where our charmain lives Hukm Chand Bansal

Admission

I chose this college because it was at rank 3 in Punjab Technical University ranks and also many fellow state people had chosen this college. But that was not only reason. This college was overall best in academic purposes. There is not a good reputation of colleges in many areas of punjab. They keep there record good by handing good marks to there alumins in internals. But RIMT college was not like that. If you are good enough only you will getting through. Admission process is simple. Simple interview to know you enough. Then you are admitted.

Faculty

4

Faculty to student relation was normal. Not that good not that bad. Some teachers were cooperative and some were really bad. There were some Sikh men in faculty they were really great. They made you feel comfortable all the time. I cant name anyone who is bad or good. But i had both the experiences in the college at my time. About exams they are always difficult. Most of students passed. The course curriculum is almost relevant.

Night Life

4

Night life is boring as hell. But we can use cafeterias till late night as i was in the hostel. Hostel life was good. Hostel timings after the college you cant go out of the college without the permission of the warden. You had to get the signatures of warden on the out slip then only you can go outside. Famous hangout places was in the college was the management campus due to the small cafeteria there. And also one more thing the swimming pool.

Placement Experience:

Students start becoming eligible for campus placements from the sixth semester, and that’s when most training sessions for aptitude, coding and soft skills also begin. The placement cell is active throughout the year and brings in a mix of product-based, service-based and mid-tier tech companies. The number of offers varies every year, but CSE-related branches usually get the highest share of opportunities. Companies come for roles like software trainee, analyst, QA, support engineering and web development, so there’s a good spread of entry-level roles.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

The placement of our college is good but its lack to bring big names but overall it's 3 out of 5 as it's basically focus on bringing software companies but our stream is of electronics so we donot have that much knowledge about coding so we lack to get placed this is the only disadvantage of the placement cell here

In 3rd semester a student is eligible for campus placement but it is all upto to students that they have to maintain a good cgpa and skills for interviews. In Chitkara university a good number of companies visited like Microsoft, google and they provide 100+ offerletters. 85-90 % students get placed in Chitkara university. After getting degree I firstly join to the company .

Placement Experience:

There is an option for students to opt for placements from campus in our university and if we seect that option we are given special training by the university it self in fields which we think we are weak. That include technical and non technical fields like soft skills. University also ties up with other triaining companis to train us in better way by calling tutors from outside the campus for teaching us. Over all if we consider we are already well trained by university to sit for on campus placements and we usually get a good paying job which also helps us to gain more knowledge and improve ourself.
