Course Curriculum Overview
The different courses that VIT offer are tremendous From biotechnology to Artificial intelligence, VIT has it all. The 4 year program promises research programs and different internship opportunities The best part about VIT is their ITP (INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER PROGRAM) which allows you to leave the college and join any foreign college (after the second year) on ANY POSSIBLE CGPA, you only need to get accepted by the desired college. The management is really secure and the timings of the exams are really well managed, giving you a nice amount of time to prepare and revise for your exams. There are remedial or slow learners class For students who don't perform well in these exams helping them to secure a decent grade by giving them enough assignments to practice There's also an online learning platform which is set up by VIT for the students who missed lectures or didn't understand.
Internships Opportunities
The college offers many college tied internships in different companies but my suggestion is always to find an internship on your merit since it enhances different abilities that you can add to your profile/portfolio. The college offers many summer internships to the students but again my suggestion is to always make your way through the different obstacles and come up with different solutions. An unpaid internship might not help your bank balance but as a college student, experience matters more than money. Building your LinkedIn profile is the main objective since it's the most looked upon thing by companies today. Though there are several companies out there, it's important to understand your motive and build your portfolio while you learn new things. If you gain enough experience you will eventually be able to make enough money for a college student
Placement Experience
Yes VIT has impeccable campus placements, VIT is known for its amazing placements programs. Amazing companies such as Google, Apple, oracle and a lot more different companies show up every year and choose respectable candidates. The packages offered are also really nice and respectable Students can start preparing for placements from the 7th semester The average package is around 9 lakhs per annum and the highest package recorded by the college is 1 CR before taxes My plans after getting a degree is to work in a respectable company for a few months and then go abroad for my MBA
Fees and Financial Aid
Since VIT is a renowned college all over the country it has several branches like VIT Chennai, VIT Bhopal, VIT AP, etc. The fees depends on the campus and the course, since I am in the main campus (Vellore) and am pursuing Computer Science Engineering (AI+ML) my course fees is 5 lakhs per year. The VITEEE exam gives you a certain rank based on the marks you've scored. You're placed in different catergories according to your rank. The higher the rank, higher is the category and higher is the fees. My fees is 3 lakhs and my batchmate who is in category 4 is paying around 5 lakhs yearly. Apart from the course fees, you need to pay for the hostel, catering, electricity development, labs and other charges. The total cost for these various charges sums up to around 2 lakhs. It also depends on the type of room you've opted for, a 3 bed Deluxe AC is the top most rated room and the lowest is 8 bed non AC room, The other rooms are 4 bed,6 bed, 8 bed and dormitory(40 beds) you can opt for with or without AC The different scholarships in VIT are merit based If your rank in VITEEE is in the top 10 there is a fees deduction Other merits include sports quota that are usually availed by the local students of the state who play for the state, 30-60% of their fees is wavered off depending on their qualification.
Campus Life
The overall campus life, clubs, events and other extra curricular activities in VIT are impeccable. Though the college is strict about their academics, they make sure to give the students an amazing times when it comes to events, clubs or extra curriculars. Talking about sports, VIT has a vast group of sports to choose from namely, Tennis, Table Tennis, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Volleyball, badminton, swimming and way more. They also have freshers tournaments for these sports to encourage the students. They also have different tournaments throughout the semester. As far as clubs are concerned, VIT has an ocean of clubs and it almost seems never ending. Club enrollment starts from second Semester and students can enroll through the website. Most clubs take several auditions for the students to get in. Many clubs take the students for competitions held at different colleges and pay for everything.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel fascilities are quite commendable Since I've opted for a 3 bed deluxe AC room, I've been getting everything I've paid for. The AC works perfectly and there's no issue with the regulation. The lights works just fine 3 beds, 3 wardrobes and 3 tables with table lamps for each student. There's enough space for each student to store their belongings. Talking about the mess in VIT, the food in these messes are really tasty and was a little unexpected Each hostel block has 2 messes (at least) The hostel registration is quite easy, it can be as soon as you choose your course and mess details The cost depends on the type of room you have opted for, the best block (R) has the most expensive room (50000) and there are rooms with no ACs and 40 bed dorms
Admission
I applied to NSUT, DU, DTU and NIT rourkela I ended up getting into all these colleges but I chose VIT due to its commendable placing opportunities Apart from its placement programs, VIT also has great learning and researching opportunities since VIT is the number 1 college in the country for research programs
Faculty
It's a 50-50, some faculty members are really nice and kind while the others are too worked up. It's mainly because of how the seniors have been behaving in their classes previously. My calculus professor, Praveen T (SAS) (VIT Vellore) is an amazing professor. He doesn't talk too much, doesn't waste time, has a linient correction type and teaches very well. He's strict about certain things like punctuality and talking in the class as he should. I haven't had any encounters with any bad teachers thankfully and I consider myself lucky. VIT vellore has 3 sets of exams in a semester CAT-1, CAT-2 and FAT CAT-1 and FAT are closed book but CAT-2 is an open book exam. The exams are pretty easy but CAT-2 is a little tough since it's an open book exam. It's really easy to score well and since it's relative grading you need to do better than your classmates only Unserious students usually fail to clear the exams but it's not tough to clear
Night Life
Nightlife in VIT is almost non-existent. Make Students need to be back in their respective hostels by 8:40 pm and for female students it's well before 8:30. Students can always go to the night library for which you need to arrive to the library by 8:30 pm and can stay at the library till 1:30 AM. Apart from that there's no chance that a student can stay outside after 9 (at max) Gyms in VIT have a certain time, from 6am to 9am and from 3pm to 8pm The famous hangout spot in VIT is "Foodys", its a place for people to make new friends and just talk in general. Other than that VIT hosts several icebreaker feats for the freshers to interact There is a new event almost every day, whether it's dancing, signing or watching a movie. Even though VIT is strict with most of its rule, it's never hard to make good friends
