Remarks

Last of all, life is great at amity- just accept instead of complain and make most of the opportunities in front of you. Also, 75% attendance would not be an issue if one does not skip classes unnecessarily.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum of medical biotech is well suited to the exam pattern, and the department is well equipped with high-tech research labs. But placements for the 3-year course of Bsc biotech are not upto the mark and one should only go for the course if he/she aspires to venture into the research field and pursye higher studies. For students aspiring for jobs in biotech industry immediately after graduation, B.Tech. in biotechnology is a better career option given the high demand of such graduates by reputed pharma companies.

Internships Opportunities

Amity Institute of Biotech does not provide in-house internships to its undergraduate students, or any help to look for internships. However, the faculty are really helpful and can tell about a variety of trainings in respective fields if one asks them. However, these students can work for/with a single faculty in their lab provided they seek them with compassion to work. Most of the other departments of the university do provide in-house internships to their students, or help them to seek internships in renowned institutes.

Placement Experience

2.5

As I discussed before, placements are genuine for students of B.Tech. programs. Within AIB, there is also a Corporate Resource Centre (CRC) which guides the students for placements or higher studies. However, B.Sc. students should not expect packages higher than 20000 Rs. (INR) before completing their post graduation.

College Events

5

Amity Youth Fest is the most anticipated annual event of the university which sees events and performances by students of various departments of different colleges and a finishing DJ night which has seen high profile guest appearances. Besides, in sep-oct every year, the college sees an Inter-Amity sports meet (SANGATHAN) which sees various departments or campuses of Amity competing to win prestigious awards in a variety of sports. There are also regular competitions and entertainment events organized by various clubs that are run for and by the students- collectively called the Student Body. Amity is a community on its own!

Fee Structure And Facilities

Although it claims to be a not-for- -profit organization, Amity is hard on the pocket, but I say the trouble is worth it! The fee structure is obviously higher than most government colleges, and even a few private ones. However, there are quite a few scholarships to cover the expenses of the meritorious students, as well as those who really need them.

Fees and Financial Aid

Amity provides full or 50%- 20% scholarship to students scoring 80% or above in their 12th boards. Also, different campuses have other scholarships also. And merit-cum-means scholarships are availed to some of the students who could not manage their fees with their family income.

Campus Life

5

As discussed above, Amity has world class opportunities for the students to grow in co-curricular activities with a highly enhanced sports complex. The labs are up-to-date with the latest technologies in the respective course and evrything else that a grad. school student needs.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostels of Amity are on-campus, and are well maintained and clean. The mess food is subtle- but it is not limited to that! Amity has 5 canteens- and a number of food joints and departmental store to satisfy those untimely cravings. There is a book shop/stationary shop and fruit shop, and a seperate starionary or photocopy shop within each department. The sports complex is the best way to spend your leisure time, with a sports ground, badminton court, tennis court, swimming pool, shooting and yoga centre as well as a gaming hub-The arcadia and a gym of its own! The wardens are all good as long as you talk sensible to them- and outpass wouldn't be a problem anymore. Some hostel rules are strict for the safety of the students and need the students to cooperate to maintain the sanctity of the institution. The hostel committe also regularly celebrates festivals like holi, diwali, onam, and lohri, and has a sports league of it own- the hostel league!

Alumni/Alumna

The senior students connect with their junuors in person as well as over the college website to clear their doubts and guide them well in their journey. The juniors must also seek to approach them. The senior students are most helpful in a club or committee where they get a chance to work with and know their juniors.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is semester-wise with a semester/cumulative grade point calculation system. There are also regular internal assessments including assignments, tests (minors), and projects on a semester basis.

Admission

I had given an English Language test as well as a personal interview (PI), on the basis of which I was selected for admission into an undergraduate program of the university. Aspirants of undergraduate courses having scored 80% or above marks in the class 12th boards are eligible for direct admission and do not need to give the entrance test. However, those having marks less than 80% in class 12th boards need to appear for entrance exam and personal interview. Aspirants of postgraduate courses who have completed graduation from amity itself are also eligible for direct admission. Various scholarahips are also available for the meritorious students, the details of which are given on the website www.amity.edu. To begin the admission process, you first need to visit www.amity.edu, and download the prospectus or information bulletin and collect every information about the course you are interested in- next, fill out the application form (aspirants can fill both in online or offline mode) and either submit it online by paying Rs.1100 by net banking, or give the form to the university's admission office with a demand draft of 1100 Rs. Next, login into your admission microsite and select a date for admission process according to your convenience. Appear for the admission process on selected date at the University campus along with necessary documents/Photo etc. Do not forget to bring your admit card for the same which you can download from the admission microsite (link to which is given on www.amity.edu) once your application has been processed.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of Amity Institute of Biotechnology are one of the biggest perks of the college. Most of the faculty have trained in the most reputed colleges of India and abroad and come from a brilliant background of research. They have the most research patents to their name, in collaboration with nationally reputed institutes like DBT, CSIR, etc. and have enriching knowledge of their fields. They are always willing to pass on their knowledge to the students, as long as the students maintain an attitude of seeking this knowledge and making the most out of it.
