Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum at Amity University is a well rounded blend of theortical principles and practical relevance that shaped my future career. There are modules like microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics and statistics that provide a strong formation for any future career opportunities in economics or finance. Additionally the presence of specialise subject like health economics, developmental economics, international trade, public policy and behavioural economics very highly appealing and something you would not find in other universities or/and government university. The inclusion of such modules got my attention because it promised to go beyond traditional economic subjects and focusing on the practical subjects that are also industry specific level of domain of economics. They were also research projects, data analysis classes, case studies throughout the three year course which allows students to apply and test their knoweldge that further enhance the value of the degree. There were also subjects like environmental sciences, psychology, communicative English which was made mandatory for students that help them shape their personality and adapt more to a corporate setting. The examination system is designed to assess the viability of skills and critically but the difficulty of exam especially towards the end of semester can create unnecessary pressure for students. There will be time that there will be last minute syllabus changes or additional chapters to be considered and there is no structured format of what you can expect in the written exam however there is a fair grading system though some students feel that instead of the exams there can be more emphasis on analytical side rather than modules that require rote learning.

Fees and Financial Aid

I completed my BA.(H) degree in Economics at Amity University Noida, which was a three-year program the course offered a comprehensive curriculum to balance the theoretical and practical knowledge. The duration of the program was well paced allowing students to absorb complex economic concepts over six semesters. I was admitted under the Sponosored category which I would pay per semester a fee of 1.69 lakhs and a total of 10.14 lakhs for the entire 3 year course. This category while offering reduced eligibility criteria comes with a higher fee structure. In contrast the Non-Sponosored category has a more competitive fee structure at 1.125 lakhs per semester and follows the standard eligibility criteria with the cut off for admission. This category is a high merit group given the strict admission requirement. You would also be required to fill up various notarised documents like anti ragging creating a safer environment for the students. Scholarship categories at Amity universitiy are at 100%, 50% or 25% of tuition fees each semester and it's strictly based on merit. I do feel there are limited options for scholarship for for financially challenged individuals being a private university. The fee structure seems to not have changed so far but there have been ongoing changes in the professors teaching the course along with new modules and options being offered to pick a specialisation in.

Campus Life

Unlike Delhi University and other government colleges you would find the amenities in Amity University top notch with air-conditioning in almost every block. When it comes to classrooms, they are being cleaned every day and the bathroom and water filter facility very hygienic. You would also find that they use advanced technology to record attendances using biometric tool along with a ID card that is punched in every time you enter or exit from the University so there is a double layer of attendance that is being recorded within such a huge University. In terms of library there is ample of opportunities to learn about new areas of life or a particular module and there is very high level of books that are being kept in the library for the students to use. There are ample of restaurants and cultural fests, celebrity events and a very good social life because there is a right mix of education learning coupled with social events that takes place which gives a student a very dynamic and healthy environment. There are opportunities for clubs extra curricular activities for different sports like football badminton and groups for student, female support groups and what not so whatever extra curricular you take up it is definitely aligned with foreign standards and it's truly a very memorable experience for anyone studying there.

Admission

I took Amity University as my only option as my cut off didn't meet in other universities but honestly I don't regret it because I think that Amity University was the best decision. I was interested in studying abroad back then and I got taught the basics foundational ability to adapt in future in a foreign university through Amity. The way they teach the curriculum and the way they assess their modules is very much similar to what is done in abroad so whatever methods they use and are teaching and learning is actually a very high class level of education and this is something you won't find in another universities especially if they're not private univeristy. The best thing about I'm really stay is that they don't follow a very strict criteria in admission and although it's very expensive in terms of tuition fees but there is a good chance that the acceptance rate is really high and they are not rigid with the number of students in a course per year as well and it can be over 200 students in one class as well. The University also does a whole interview process before rolling out of the offer letters and it is very basic they just do it to test your knowledge based on your stream in 11 then 12 standard and there is English communication exam that they take just to assess if you are able to understand the teaching method because English is the primary language which is used during teaching at the University

Faculty

Amity universities economics faculty offers a mixed yet comprehensive educational experience, with both strengths and areas for improvement depending on individual's perspective. The faculty to student ratio is generally favourable for smaller glasses allowing for personalised attention and active engagement, particularly in small seminar settings and tutorial. However during large lecture based course is the ratio can sometimes lead to reduced one-on-one interaction with some students feeling that their enquiries may go on answered unless the sea help during office hours. The faculty is generally approachable with many professors open to discussing Academy concerns outside of class with the level of engagement very some professor the professor with some being highly accessible and others less so which increased inconsistencies in experience. I'm on the faculty several professional standard positively such as Shivani is well known for a dynamic and clear explanations which have students understand complex economic theories and apply economic principle in the real world settings. On the other hand Professor like Mahua have received criticism for their teaching style and favouritism during lectures which can make it difficult for students to remain engaged in her class. Exam system typically includes midterm and internal exams alongside projects and assignments, group discussions and mcqs, group projects presentations. This can be particularly demanding for some people and it involves rigorous level of detail to cope. The failure rate is generally low and almost everyone passes the exam with adequate preparation. The assessments can feel overwhelming at times especially for those who may not have attended many classes because most of the exams are based on class discussions. Despite these challenges I think Amity university is very good to prepare and equip themselves in the field of economics or finance.

Night Life

2

I've not been in a hostel at the University but I found from other students living in the hostel that the food is definitely not good and not even Hygenic so a lot of the students prefer to cook in the room. There are not many opportunities to go nearby in Amity university because the University is placed in a very remote setting so unless you're going by over a vechile he/she could only then you can enjoy a bit of nightlife around the campus I would not say the locality of the campus is safe enough at night because the place is very remote and around an expressway/ highway so it's definitely recommend it to go via a transport and there are lots of mall within a few miles radius of the campus but I won't recommend during the night time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm currently persuing BA(hons) Geography from Faculty of Arts. I had interest in geography since class 10. Therefore, I chosen this course. Curriculum doesn't prepare us, we have to prepare ourselves. My suggestion would be that some more younger professors need to be there. Exams are generally easy and their cycle is also good
