Course Curriculum Overview

4

My decision to choose this course was that I didn't had any interests in any other courses like B.com, BCA, Bsc because I knew engineering would be bring something valuable in my life which I think it is doing. This course doesn't prepare you fully for real world challenges but somewhat it gives you a glance of it, Mumbai university should really revise its syllabus. Improvements I would suggests is stop making the first year same for all students on that make it seperate branch related. Keep written exams for Languages please like Python, Java. The frequency of exams is around 1 and half months, medium difficulty level

Placement Experience

3

Students sit in placements from 7th semester onwards. Companies start to come from August and you will need to have atleast 7+ CGPA if you want to seat for in campus placements. Companies like Accenture, Capgemini, Wipro, Tcs are the main recruiters here and decent amount of students are placed every year. Highest package I heard in my first year was around 20 to 22 lpa I dont know whether it is true or a rumour, while average package is 4 lpa. I dont know how much students are placed every year sorry! I will be finding a job after degree, yes .No masters!

Fees and Financial Aid

As a management quota student, my fees were similar to those of the general category students. The total fee for my first year was approximately 133926 Rs, for second year it was 60000 Rs and now for third year it is same around 60000 Rs which includes the tutuion fees, development fees, caution money, examination fees, and other compulsory charges. The tution fee alone was 112889 Rs, with additional charges for the university registration, insurance, library, cultural activities etc. For batchmates in the other categories, the fee structure was significantly lower. OBC category students paid around 50000 in their first year and simiar in the other years benefiting from government concessions their fee was more reduced in schemes like scholarships and all for SC and ST category students they received a scholarship covering around 90 - 95 % of their total fees which was around 5000 Rs in total their fees and on that 95% discount. The college provides receipts detailing the fee breakdown, ensuring tranparency.

Campus Life

4

My college is mainly famous for 2 festivals - Rhythm and Techition botth the events are well organized my committee members and staff, there is prom night and DJ nights in these festivals. Library has all the books related to students curriculum so theres no issue in book supply and other books are also there, my college has 2 libraries one on 2nd while other on 4th floor. The classrooms are not air conditioned but they have projectors in every classroom. My college supports Cricket team, Baseball team, football team and Basketball team.

Admission

I had applied for Thakur college of engineering which was the nearest to my house and also in St. Francis college of engineering. I think Thakur could have been a better option but due to my less percentile I had to go in Athrava and that too management category. The only thing I liked about my college is its aimbience and vibe it gives you a vibe of a decent yet somewhat modern college. The admission process was seamless no difficulty faced at all. This college accepts JEE mains, MHTCET exams you should have more than 85 percentile to guarantee your seat in Computer engineering branch.

Faculty

4

The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:65. Still they are able to handle students very well. I would like to give the name of best faculty to Mahendra Patil sir he use to teach us Database management system subject DBMS, the way he thought was very understanding, he also cracks jokes around makes everyone laugh as well. I didn't liked a Female faculty named Purvi Agarwal she has a lot of attitude and if something doesn't go the way she wants she would surely disrespect the person infront of all, please stay away from her. There are 3 exams per semester 2 unit tests and 1 main end semester exams. Unit tests are very easy while end semester exams are just nightmares.

Night Life

3

There are 2 eating spots in my college one is the canteen while other is a cafe. My college also has a gym but only 1 month of free trial after that you need to pay fees for using it. There is no hostel in my college since Mumbai college leaving IITB doesn't have hostels. Famous hangout spot is a near by goverment garden and the very famous Infinity mall.

Other Applied Colleges

St. Francis Institute of Technology - [SFIT] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Engineering)

It was little far from my home compared to my current college

The course curriculum is pretty outdated. I am in cybersecurity specialization and there are only 2 subjects(starting from 2nd year) related to cybersecurity.and those courses are good but the faculty teaching them arent that great. they just read out the ppts, which they dont even share.

Placement Experience:

Placements start from final year. Students become eligible in 7th sem. Training sessions begin earlier. Aptitude and coding practice provided. Mock interviews are also conducted. Preparation quality depends on effort. Many service based firms visit. Some product companies also come. Roles include developer and analyst. Support and testing roles common. Core jobs limited for some branches. Multiple offers for top performers. Average package is moderate level. Top packages go to few students. Around half students get placed. Others find off campus jobs. Internships improve placement chances. My plan is skill based job.

That aspect that made me choose this course that the it very oriented with the project based learning which prepare students for the industry level knowledge and ready for the job . It really prepare for the real world problem which are needed in the industry. Some improvements can also be added as the era is of AI the curriculum can be shaped based on the AI for future proof. The frequency of the exam is every 6 months it is very good to have exams every 6 months as students get to check their knowledge on timely basis the difficultly level is manageable.

Semester 7 is when the placement season starts, and sem 5 onwards you can appear for internship season. The highest package goes in crores but mostly in cse department, others not IT jobs have reletively lower packages avarage being 20 LPA. Almost 60 percent and above students get placed in my guess. I am planning to work in a chemical process design firm.
