What Students Say
Likes
- It's a really affordable college as it's a government college
- Seniors were very co-operative regarding any problem
- We have various college clubs for extra curricular activities
Dislikes
- Infrastructure is not so great and could have been a lot better.
- It's a tier-3 college so placement scenario is not so great either
- We don't really have top notch facilities in our hostels or college
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose this course because I was interested in buildings and infrastructures from a fairly young age. The curriculum comprises of almost every theoretical and practical knowledge required for real-world applications. The teaching methods can be improved as some of the faculties just read from the slides. The timing of the exams give ample time for students to prepare for the exams. The exams are not so difficult if you are prepared thoroughly.
Internships Opportunities
Our college dont really provide with internship opportunities, we have to find one on our own. Like my course is civil engineering so i have done an internship in odisha bridge and construction corporation.
Placement Experience
From the end of 6th sem students become eligible for campus placements. Many companies have visited our campus such as Deloitte, L&T, Cisco, TCS, Accenture, Cognizant etc. Highest package was offered by cisco of about 20,00,000. Average package would be about 4,00,000. About 60% students are placed in my batch till now. My plan is for preparing for GATE exam and pursuing higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
We paid a yearly fees of about 35000 for 2 semesters. I also opted for hostels so the hostel fees per year was about 10660. The mess bill depends solely on the person and the amount of meals he/she consumes per day. Mess fess per day was about 100(including breakfast, lunch and dinner). For TWF category the course fees was 23400 per year for regular programs .
Campus Life
There are 2 annual fests named as perception which is a technical fest and another one is Xtasy which is a cultural fest. Usually held between January to april. We have good library comprising books of all genre. Facilites and technical provisions are not so great as we are from tier-3 college. Sports such as badminton, basketball, kabaddi, football, cricket, volleyball and kho kho are of utmost importance in our college. More extra curricular activities such as dance, acting, singing and debate clubs are also provided. A student running any of the club will have a good imoact og their school life as they will gain a glimpse of leadership and cooperation.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are not so great, the washing machine is not in working condition since the day i joined this college. Meal quality is not so great either. It usually comprises of odia breakfast such as bara, upma, puri and lunch usually comprises of dalma, navratna and many more odia cuisines. Registration for hostel can be done during registration for college and its very affordable. We can rent a room of PG near sum hospital.
Admission
I chose this college over the other colleges because its very affordable. I also applied for BITS pilani but it is very expensive so i decided to chose a government college. Admission in our college can be granted by 2 exams namely JEE MAINS or OJEE.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio will be like 1:20. Faculties are really approachable and student faculty relationship is fairly good. My favourite faculty would be pramodini maam. She is really cooperative. Each semester comprises of 2 exams, named as mid-sem and end-sem. Mid sem was fairly easy and end sem required a good knowledge of whole syllabus. Out of 135 hardly 5-6 students fail to clear the exams depending on the subject.
Night Life
Campus is completely safe to roam around in the evening. The famous hangout spots are canteen area. Girls hostel in time is 7 pm after that we are not allowed to step outside the hostel unless its an emergency. Gym is provided in all hostels including libraries.
