What Students Say
Likes
- Placement cell effectiveness was good. Even in Covid years, they were able to pull good employers to college.
- Overall Campus is quite large. Sports complex was a go to place for every game.
- Diversity of subjects which can be opted. Data structure which essentially is an computer science subject was provided in ECE also. So flexibility.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure level was satisfactory only.
- Quality of classes was not great. Lab infrastructure is also relatively poor.
Course Curriculum Overview
Electronics as a course is very dynamic. Every minutes things are changing. The course focuses mainly on basic foundations like Semiconductors, diodes, digital and analog circuits to explain the basis of it. Relevance could be improved by adding new technologies which are emerging like photo-electronics, battery manufacturing sciences which are in line with ECE. We can even integrate some subjects from CSE to maintain the harmony of electronic hardware and software. Exam difficulty level was moderate. It's frequency was also okay. Focus can be on making them more dynamic.
Fees and Financial Aid
My yearwise tution fees was nearing 60 thousand. It was due to my father falling in income bracket of 1 to 5 lakhs. With this, Hostel fees and mess fees were seperately charged. For hostel- single room it was nearing 48 thousand per year and mess charges were nearing 3 thousand per month. Students can avail scholarships mainly based on state goverment 12th pass level- like Medhavi chatra yojana was present at that time. Internal examinations for scholarships were rare if any. Below 1 lakh income per year does not have to pay tution fees. Category wise segregation in fees was not there. Most information given is regarding the B.tech course.
Campus Life
This aspect is great. Roobaroo is the cultural society which organises various fests, for technical fests too we have ISE, for literary society Drishtant society provided good fests like illuminati. We have a digital library underaking. Technological provisions are basic in classes and can be improved. The biggest Cultural fest is Maffick which is once in a year. For sports, sports complex provides things which you need for most of the sports. Portals like think india manit chapter had a great impact on student faculty development.
Admission
Mostly the reason was my ranking in JEE mains. It was a combination of stream and college which I can get according to my rank. In JEE advanced my ranking only allowed me to have some courses. Rest, overall placements are good. The culture of college is quite good with continuous alumni connect. The Admission mainly happens through JEE Mains examination for B.tech and seperately for other streams through other exams. Cutoffs vary for stream to stream and category to category.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio was nearing 1:30. Relationship was quite organic and professors really took keen interest in interaction with students. Some professors like Alpana pandey ma'am, RK baghel sir were quite a visionary. There were few faculties which despite of their good research background were not able to explain things in a lucid way. Do take care of that. There are three exams in every semester. Mini term, mid term, end term. The overall aggregate at the end decides the student passing or failing. Class usually has 15-20 backlogs in every semester in class of 100 members. Course curriculum cannot said as upto the mark with reference to relevance but there are changes being made every year. So yes, it is a great choice.
Night Life
Limited night life of the college. Gym facility which is available in day is one of the best in all the NITs. Hostel number 9 and 10 were best of the hostels. For boys it's open 24 hour, for girls closing time is 10. Some hangout places are susangat canteen, amul cafe, PMC chauraha. Locality is mostly safe, but some areas need vigilance, so avoid going to the forest side area of the college.
