Remarks
The faculty should be more indulged in teaching and work towards getting companies to offer placement opportunities to the students. Otherwise, the students coming to Banaras Hindu University will get to witness one of the greenest campus in the country and the oldest city in the world.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum offers the insight into studies of Human Resource Management with subjects like Industrial Law, Labour Law etc. However, the curriculum is very outdated and needs to be updated. Also, the teaching is very theoretical without any emphasis on the practical implementation of what is taught.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, the college provides us with internships in companies like HUL, ONGC, Coal India. The Almuni play a major role in arranging the internships for the current students. I will be joining the internship in May, so I am not able to share my experience now.
Placement Experience
The campus placements is nil. However, students prepare for exams of companies like ONGC, Coal India, NTPC ,AAI, BHEL and majority of them are employed at very handsome packages. Apart from that, some students also go for their PhDs by appearing for NET/JRF exams.
College Events
The events celebrated are Teachers'Day, University Founder's Day, The Annual Fest Spandan and the department's Alumni Meet. Spandan is a multi-cultural fest where all the departments of the university participate in Skit, dance Mime, etc. On the founder's day, all the departments take out a procession on a pre-decided theme and also present a street play in front of the chief guests.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is very feasible as the fees are just 60000/- per annum for 2 years. Apart from that, each semester 1000 is deposited for the hostel. The mess fees are paid monthly on the basis of the total meals.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is no scholarship or loan facility provided by the college. However, the students can avail of the scholarships provided by their respective states. Also, for availing the loan, it can be done very easily as the university has a very good reputation
Campus Life
There are an annual inter-department cricket tournament and an inter hostel tournament organized by the students and the university. Apart from that, the whole university has several large grounds where students can go and play. There is also a synthetic hockey court and a squash hall
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are large with a lawn and a common bathroom. However, the rooms are too small to be shared by 2 people. Also, the students are not allowed to put a cooler during summers and also the students are required to buy the bulbs themselves. The hostel and toilet is not cleaned regularly and is mostly dirty. The mess food is also not very good.
Alumni/Alumna
The Alumni network is spread across various PSUs and all the seniors are very helpful is arranging and helping us with internships and other things. Students get a chances to interact with the alumni during the Almuni meet and from there they build a relation that helps them
Exam Structure
The exams are held semester wise with each semester having 6 subjects. Each subject is of 100 marks which is broken up as - 70(theory), 20(mid sems), 10(assignment/presentation). The semesters are held during December (odd sem) and May(even sem).
Admission
We are required to appear for an entrance exam which includes questions from Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, English and General Awareness. After clearing the entrance exam we are called for the Group Discussion and Interview. The selection is done on the basis of all three of these steps.
Faculty
There are some professors who are very much interested in teaching, teach with all their hearts. However, the majority of the professors are not interested in teaching and do not teach well. The teaching is confided to the books that we are recommended and which is very less that what should be taught.
