Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was versatile and gives a good idea to understand what you need to work and focus upon The curriculum covers a little more than the bare basics however one has to participate in workshops and internships to be prepared for real life work environment.
Internships Opportunities
There are projects assigned to us during the final year and their outcomes and certificates are highly important Otherwise i personally can contribute very little on this half as I have only begun the second semester of my engineering course
Placement Experience
Students begin getting internships starting from the 7,8 semester. Companies such as TSC, Cap gemini approach the college as part of csmpus placements Highest packed 25-30 lkhpa Average 4 lkhpa The overall percent of students getting placed is low but the rest are placed into value adding internships
Fees and Financial Aid
I will pay a sum amount of 1.12 lakh(tuition fees) for a single year in four installments. This include for all labs, development, admission fees for the first year of the course There are scholarships for students who have secured high marks in the entrance exams, causing their tuition fees to drop drastically down to 30 - 40 k a month There are scholarships by companies such as the Deutsch bank but these are focused on female students There are other scholarships for SC, ST students as well
Campus Life
There is the annual fest called TML (tatva moksha lakshya) the sports, cultural and artistic fest of our college. There are plenty of worships, hackathons etc The library has a plethora of books relevant to all courses taught in the college, plenty of reference books for Gate, examination for foreign studies etc Otherwise it is rather limited.
Admission
I had applied for MIT pune and VIT after the jee and cet exams I never recieved any feedback from MIT. However i recieved 31000 rank in VITEE and thus applied for the admission process. However i got a seat in VIT Vellore ina higher fee bracket which was not ideal. Since i believed that further education(MBA Mtech) Was also required i decided not to spend too much for a college and so chose SIES based on my CET score. I was allocated CE in SIES based of my percentile in CET but due to a mistake in the seat allocation I missed the seat, i got ECS later based in spot admission
Faculty
There is approximate ratio of 50:1 considering the college as a whole. They are very approachable. They are glad to help and can easily relate and understand the students situation and try their best to help them out In a semester there are generally 3 exams, 1. Mid sem examination of 30-40 marks 2. Internal assessment 20-30 marks 3. End sem examination 70-80 marks Students need to clear a certain amount of marks to pass subject failing which they have to pass the re exam to prevent failing. There was a decent amount to students around a fifth of the class population which failed the exam The portion is very relevant..
Night Life
The college is located in the heart of Neru so it has plenty of restaurants cafes outside the campus (Subway , gupta sandwiches etc) The college has no hostel to speak of but has PGs in the locality around the same. The locality is pretty safe
Other Applied Colleges
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT] Chennai | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electrical and Electronics Engineering)
