Course Curriculum Overview

4

The main reason which made me choose the course was the promise of 100% placement. Which is not at all true for the core branches. The course was mainly focused on theoretical knowledge and very little focused on real-life practical knowledge. The course should include more real-life practical knowledge, few internships, many workshops and many industrial visits to give the students a basic picture of real-life job scenarios. The whole semester was for 4.5 to 5 months. The mid-sem happens after the 2 months of your semester starts and after another 2.5 or 3 months end-sem and lab practical exams happen. The difficulty level of these exams is moderate.

Placement Experience

3

From the 7th semester, students become eligible for the placements. Many companies visited during our placement time. Some of them are Accenture, Cognizant, IBM, Wipro, Ericson, Bajaj Electrical etc. Out of 3000 students on the campus, they offered jobs to 1200 students. The highest package was around 300000 and the average package was 250000. Around 40 per cent of students got placed. I planned to get a decent job after the degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of my college in 2014 was 1200000 for four years. It has eight semesters, each with a fee of 110000 and a hostel fee of 23500. The admission fee was 60000, and we had to pay 1000 extra for each semester's exam. I don't know if there were any scholarships, but maybe there were some for the economically disadvantaged and tribals. Most of my batchmates also paid the same amount as I did.

Campus Life

4

The annual KIIT Fest was held once in year in January or February. And there were a few technical festivals as well. Different kinds of books and magazines were available in the library. Many sports and extracurricular activities like dancing, singing, and fashion were there at KIIT Fest. All of the students were welcome to participate in the social groups who used to help to organise these activities and they also impacted the lives of the students in their way.

Hostel Facilities

5

I stayed in the hostel for 4 years. And the rooms were great. You will get a clean washroom and toilets. Your rooms will be cleaned regularly. On top of that, you will have access to the free wifi for your personal use. The option to stay in hostels is usually done during the admission and the hostel fee was decent. The foods were healthy and you will get food 4 times a day.

Admission

I applied for some of the other colleges in West Bengal via the WBJEE entrance exam. But as I ranked poor I was unable to get my desired college. My college has its entrance exam I ranked comparatively well there and I got selected. It was in the top 4 private universities in India at that time and it was promising a 100% placement. I choose this college over the others. The entrance exam for my college is KIITEE. The exam itself is free of cost and the eligibility is that you need to have at least 60% marks in all the subjects of your 12th.

Faculty

4

There is a good amount of faculty in our college. If I may say the ratio it may be like 40:1. Most of the faculties are friendly towards the students. You can approach them for guidance. I can name some of the faculties I liked Prashnajit Behera sir, Somnath sir. I liked them because of the love and care they showed me and the guidance they provided me for both my academic and personal growth. There were some faculties I did not like because of their behaviour and their unfriendly nature. Now coming to the exam patterns in each semester there were 3 exams. First, there was a mid-sem exam, then the end-sem exam and the lab practical exams. I can say the difficulty level of these exams was moderate. Very few of the students failed. The course was mainly focused on the theoretical parts and it lacks the touch of the real like practical knowledge.

Night Life

4

There was a gym, an Indoor game stadium, a swimming pool, a playground and a central cafe on our campus. The closing time for them was 8 pm and you need to get to your respective hostels before 9 pm. Outside of the campus, there were various restaurants like MDC, and 99 North and markets like Damana Square to hang out. The locality was safe to roam around even at night both for girls and boys.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I love computers and I have deep intrest in computer science sk I choose this course. I learned much necessary things in the college. College should help and provide skills according to the students. There were hackathons done by the college which is a good step towards the development of students. The main focus should be in the practical knowledge than the thoery as in real world students have to deal with projects where labs practices play a major role.

Placement Experience:

the placements are preety good in this college . however currenty the job market is down so it has impacted the college placements. from 6th semester onwards students become eligible for placements however the companies visit from 7th sem onwards . many renowned companies visit along with multiple startups offering from a range 4 lpa to 24 lpa all based on the potential of the students. the college offers a 100% placement but looking at current senario it seems difficult. mostly companies hire for sowftware engineers and product manager roles but , also provide marketing and sales job roles. 25 lakhs per annum is the highest package in the recent time average package is abput 5-10 lakhs per annum. though college promises 100% placements, the actual percentage is quite low about 50-60% students are getting placed which is also a result of the current job market scenario my plans after this degree is joining a company and finding my passion . i can also tink about my own startup based on my passion to make a change in the society .
