Course Curriculum Overview

3

My curriculum includes coding subjects and some of the subjects included in questions asked in interviews for software development . That is why i chose information science enginnering. It is very much similar to computer science engineering . As i have mentioned earlier it is an outdated syllabus and does not help much in the career aspect or real world point of view except for a few subjects, The curriculum can be imprived by keeping practical subjects and subjects which help us enhance our skills , the college should organise workshops on the trending and ongoing technologies and tools for us to develop and gain interest in our respective fields. Since we are from the corona batch we have each internal aassessment every month and our sem lasts only three to four months with the last month having sem end examinations. The difficulty level of internal assessments is not much and is easy to pass. But the external examinations are unpredictable and is kind of difficult to score well but passing is not much of a difficult.

Internships Opportunities

3

I am a 3rd year student and can tell what I have heard from my seniors . Various internship opportunities are available from different companies with stipend varying from 15k to 25k . There are some companies that give you internship opportunities and convert it to full time opportunities based on performance of the candidates , companies like Maersk , Oracle also offer internship opportunities with a stipend of 50k . I am not aware of what kind of projects that are given and undertaken by the companies . But most of them get internship opportunities from off-campus .

Placement Experience

4

The placements is my college is quite good i would say. Placement opportunities are offered in our campus . There is a separate placement training session conducted for the students on aptitude , DSA , communication skills , mock interviews and more all of thesestart from the 6th sem. From 6th sem companies start visiting the campus and students are shortlisted based on their skills. Some of the comapnies that visit my college are WebKnot , Accenture , Betsol , Emphasis , TCS , Oracle , O9 Solutions , Adobe and so on . The offers made depends on the studdents skills . The highest package of our college is 55 lakh per annum from Adobe company which took women candidates . And our average package ranges from 6 lakh to 7 lakh . The percentage is greater than 90% and our college makes sure most of them are offered with a job irrespectice of the packages offered, The packages offered might be low but the number of students who get placed is more and the placement department works really hard for it.

Fees and Financial Aid

I enrolled into my college through KCET, and i paid 1,09,296 per year , here is the breakdown : tuition fee-64686, college fees-20000, VTU fees-7110, Skill Development Fees-15000,Books and Stationary- 2500 You can also get into the college through COMEDK exam and Management Quota. According to my batch 2022-26 my batchmates are paying around 2.5 lakh who have come through COMEDK and the fee sturcture for management quota depends on branches respectively , like for CSE-6lakh , ISE-5.5 Lakh,ECE-2 lakh and so on . If you come through KCET and you're category comes under SC/ST then the fees reduces to 45k per year and if you get SNQ quota which is merit based (upon your rank) then the fees reduces to 60k per year. Scholarships: SSP scholarship - you can avail it if you're family income is less than 1 lakh per year , you will receive 13k for GM and 19k / 20k for OBC / SC / ST. IEEE scholarship for women , National Scholarship and so on. When I enrolled into the college it was affiliated to VTU (Visveshvaraya Technological University) but it became autonomous after 2 years of my joining it is autonomous for my juniors and the fee structure and intake of students has also increased . ISE is not a branch there anymore everything is converted into CSE.

Campus Life

3

My overall experience in RNSIT is 8.5/10 including all aspects like campus life , focusing on social aspects , club involvement and infrastructure. The campus life is pretty good , and you do get a good amount of networking opportunities and there are two major clubs in my college one is the RSC - which is the sports committee which manages and conducts events related to sports and the other is CAT - which is the cultural committee of our college and conducts college fests and other cultural events there are also music , dance , acting related clubs too for the one who are interested. There is a lot of politics invloved in the recruitment process and you have to be in good terms with the seniors in order to get selected into these clubs . The annual college fest conducted is PANTHEON and PARICHAY which iare the inter college and intra college fests respectively . There are also a lot of sports activities conducted like all kind of sports - cricket , badminton , table tennis , chess , football , and many more . There are also department fests conducted by each department every even sem , all of these are really fun to be a part of , the sports and extra curricular activities offered and conducted are quite more and encouraging and supportive to all these. The library also is a fantastic place to get knowledge from , you can borrown textbooks for your sem related subjects and soend time there for any activity like projects , discussions and much more. The facilities provided within the college are good like good lighting , air and conditioned and clean classrooms but the wifi is too weak there this is a major problem during workshops and during the technical activities that are conducted

Admission

I did not choose this college over other colleges as I came through KCET and i got this college according to my rank which was 16997 . I had applied to top colleges as well but I would get Electronic related branches like ECE , EEE , E and T and so on , which i was not interested in so i waited till the last extended round of KCET for this seat . I actually wanted DSCE , and computer science brannch but due to my rank i wasn't getting it. So ultimately i had to choose this college . The admission process goes like this - you write the KCET exam , get your results, and you will have document verification process and conselling process conducted by the KEA . In the counselling process you have to choose a hundred options according to your priority of colleges and branches and according the seats will be alloted , here category , disability quota all these are taken into consideration , a bonus tip would be to apply to the top colleges irrespective puf your rank and you mught end up getting a good seat in one of the top colleges in the last extended round when some of them withdraw their seats back and go to medical field and IITs. After you are assigned a college in that counselling process you get an admission order form KEA to the assigned college you then go to the college for your admission process by paying the required fees and enroll into the college . My college is among top15-20 colleges in bangalore campus wise the campus is really huge compared to other colleges and placements are mid compared to top colleges though the college is working extremely hard towards the placements , the offered packages and the ompanies that visit are mid level compared to other colleges , but the placement rate is high though for a smaller package. The eligibity exams are KCET and COMEDK through which you can come . The cutoff in my year for ISE in KCET was around 17k , the cutoffs in COMEDK are lesser and you get a nice college for greater rank compared to KCET but fee is more

Faculty

3

The faculty of my department (ISE) including the Head of Department were pretty encouraging and supportive . They are all student friendly . The ratio of faculty-to-student is fair enough and pretty good. The senior faculties are the best faculties for sure ,and as i have heard from other department friends their department faculty werent this supportive or encouraging. So we have three internal assessment tests conducted every month out of fifty marks and the level of difficulty is not much , you get all expected questions and is easy to score teachers are also lenient in their correction and try to do their best in the interest of their students and are very student-friendly . Next is the Sem End Exam which we write for hundred marks and is reduced to fifty. The questions and corrections are unpredictable and you can never guess correctly how much you can or will score , the difficulty level is medium . Though most of them pass the sem end exams some still fail to clear the exam like i would say maybe around 10-20 students from one branch is the approximate ratio of how many people fail to clear their exams. The course is not thatvery relevant except for subjects like computer networks, DSA, Database management system, operating system , Other than these most of the subjcts are irrelevant to the real worl application you need to clear it for the degree you need. And also the notes given by my college is famous and many students from other colleges ask for our notes. They give us handwritten or printed notes which is very useful for the Sem End Examination.

Night Life

4

The night life in and around the campus is too good you have the amphitheatre which is surrounded by greeneary and has a very fresh influence on your mind . Music concerts are conducted on thursdays by the music club which are extremely good and soothing , it is a beautiful experience to have with your friends vibing to the songs . There are also a lot of nice places around my college like shrashtea , ronkie rich , java cafe , naughty cafe , krishna sagar(mainly for the vest filter coffee) and much more other places that are beautifully light up in the night . There is also a gym in our college for the interested students . The hostelites are expected to return back before 9.00 p m to ensure the safety of students . The classes wind up by 4.00 to 4.30 p m at the max and sometimes you have classes only till 1.00 p m . After the classes going out to these places to chill with your friends , ranting about the studies , faculties , our lives and so much more , traveling back in bus , etc

Placement Experience:

Placements at RNS Institute of Technology are good. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th or 7th semester. Many companies visit the college, including IT and core companies. Some of the common recruiters include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and a few core companies for EEE. The average package is around 3 to 5 LPA, and higher packages are also offered for top-performing students. The highest package can go much higher depending on the company. Around 70–80% of students get placed, mainly in IT roles. For EEE students, core placements are limited, but there are good opportunities in software roles. The college also provides training and support for placements. After completing my degree, I plan to get placed in a good company and build my career.

Most of the students get placed from the campus placements. Students get eligible for campus placements from the fifth semester. Companies like HP, Infosys, Wipro come for recruiting and make offers from 3L per annum to 30 L per annum. Around 70 percent of the students get placed through campus placement. I plan on working for a dream company after completing my degree.

Placement Experience:

I applied to colleges like BMSIT and Sir MVIT, and I had confirmed seats there, too. I chose RNSIT because it has a better reputation for placements in my branch and the campus environment felt more welcoming. I didn't get into RVCE because my KCET rank wasn't high enough for their top branches, as the competition was very tough that year. The admission process is simple. They mainly take students through KCET and COMEDK. You need at least 45% in your 12th boards (PCM). Most students prefer KCET because the fees are lower. Once the seat is allotted through counseling, you just visit the campus, submit your documents, and pay the fees. The whole process was quite smooth and well-organized."

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is very unique, and very new, we are not taught irrelevant subjects and topics like every university does, Polaris school of technology (PST) is a new gen college which mainly focuses on tech, producing the best engineers not amongst india but amongst the world, it's aim is to produce engineers who are better than IITians and MITians, all these specifications influenced me to choose this course/curriculum When it comes to real-world applications, Polaris school of technology(PST) gives us real-life problems and scenario based projects through evaluations which help us in the future and helps us to build a proper approach for problems and train us to be the best. We have two main exams per sem which would be conducted every 3 months that is ½th of the sem, we have a total of 8 sems, so total 16 exams, our exams would be difficult for other college students, but not for us as we have the best mentors.
