Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose Medicine cause its my Passion and the feel of gratefulness one feels after saving lives is unmatchable, CBME Curriculum being revised one had made lot of progression in terms of learning that helped a lot. Clinical postings for students from 2nd to Final year and one year of Internship really helps to apply ours learnings onto patients who the one's are our real teachers. Improvement wise there should be more light to be shed on making students learn clinical based education rather than just theoretical aspect. Coming to examination part, in medical collage 3 internals are being conducted each at a span of 3 months and after passing these we will become eligible for appearing University examination the examination will be moderate as due recent curriculum changes more clinical based questions are being asked

Internships Opportunities

4

At present I am studying in 3rd year of MBBS and for me to enter Internship I need to pass 3rd year and Final year of MBBS, Internship in Medicine is quite different from other courses as here the Intern will be trained to treat live people and will be getting a monthy stipend of rupees 30,000 with lot of hectic schedule sometimes continuous 36 hr long, several night shifts and need to bare more responsibility

Fees and Financial Aid

I am studying M.B.B.S in Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, Bellary. The Annual fee of our collage is 65000 Rupees. As i recently passed 2nd year of M.B.B.S and now entered 3rd year, I am yet to pay my collage fee, I got merit seat in this collage back in 2022,and I donot avail any kind of concession in Academic fee but other category students avail concession and barely paid some 500-1000 rupees as collage fee.I am also not availing any Scholarships under government programmes.

Campus Life

4

Though a few cultural events are conducted in our collage, they are celebrated in a most grand way possible a few namely Ganesha Chaturthi, Karnataka Rajyotsava on 1st of November College day once in 3 years in month of September are few big celebrations of our college, there are several books of different renowned Author's of each and every subjects in our library on which we can have free access via our identity card. Coming to classroom the mode of teaching is digital with help of projector and a stage and dias for proffesors to teach which help them in reaching everyone, we also have air conditioner in our class room which is of very helpful during summer season as climate here would be very hot, university level sport meet are encouraged in our collage and students participate in most of the sport events. Every batch of students has a social media group which is very helpful for sharing any sort of information regarding classes, postings, any development changes in curriculum etc.. and is also helpful to preserve unity among students

Hostel Facilities

4

In first year of MBBS students of nearly 6-8 in number are accomodated in a single large Rooms so as to avoid interaction with seniors, later after completing 1st year all students are assinged new hostel along with seniors where 2 people share a room, in room there are spacious cupboards for every individual, each student is provided with a study table and chair, seperate bed for each student and there are facilities like lights and fan. Every floor of our hostel has a drinking water filter and seperate washrooms at each corner of the floor. Students living in hostel eat food from hostel mess which is usually run by a committe involving students with a charge of rupees 3000 monthly where variety of food items are being provided and occasionly snacks and Feast during special events are also provided, the overall taste and quality of food is good. Students are assigned hostel during their admission process by paying fees to collage administration, the total payment for 5 and half years is rupees 36,000(approx) 7k per year and hostel facility is very good at a very cheap price

Admission

Admission to medical college is taken by Participating in state level counseling conducted by KEA. I wanted to pursue my MBBS from KIMS Huballi located in karnataka but went short by 5-6 marks, would my luck favoured on examination day things would have been different and I don't like the Indian education system where students get seat based on Caste not on their scores thats really disgusting thing, I didn't get rejection from any other collages, our collage is one of the top ranked collages for medical studies in Karnataka where admission is taken by participating in either MCC Or KEA counseling after claering NEET UG Examination, our collage cutoff is as same as other collages regarding rank difference, difference for each Caste, cutoff may range from 20k for general category upto 150k for ST students

Faculty

4

Different Faculty are assigned per each topic of particular subject, Faculty to student ratio in theory classes is 1:200 where as in practical its 1:50, every proffesor mantain the professionalism into teaching and make us learn well, some faculty members are really student friendly and students like are well connected to them, in particular every proffesor give their best while making us learn, in medical collage there is no semester system but there will be 3 internals being conducted every 3 months in them nearly 30% students fail. Even in University examination there will a lot of uncertainty regarding passing and almost 15-20 students do fail in it, NMC's new CBME Curriculum has its own pro's n con's but it doesn't affect much for student wellbeing

Night Life

4

Yes there are a lot of hangout spots nearby our college be it a few juice centers or Restaurants, there are some 2-3 gyms nearby which my friends usually go to our college has a central Library with a wide diversity of books from well renowned authors which is a very grateful thing and I am personally very proud of our college about the library. We also have a large playing ground nearby of our own college where students get involved in various sport activities or fitness activities like running or jogging. There is no time restrictions for boys in hostel but girls have time restrictions to be in the hostel within 9 PM at night, the locaity is absolutely safe as there are a lot of home guards around hostels, library, campus entrance

Course Curriculum Overview:

Same curriculum as the NMC is followed . In the beginning ears there wont be much exposure clinically like any other hospitals later on in 3rd amd 4th year there is more clinical exposure and patient interaction. According to me the exam level of 1st year is a bit tough as it is a changing phase from 12th to college and everything is new later on we get adjusted and find it easy and will understand how to phase the exam and how it is different from the previous exams of 11th or 12th . Only one exam will be for a academic year which includes the whole syllabus of that year
