CVRCE Review

Overall i felt the college is pretty good (Academic wise). It has one of the best infra in all of odisha. The college management has to work harder to bring in more companies for placement so that students dont get disappointed.

I gave exams for Orissa JEE (OJEE) and got a rank of around 3000. I wanted a seat in Computer science or IT. CVRCE is one of the better known colleges in Odisha. This college had just 2 seats available and were fast filling up. As luck would have it i was able to get a seat in IT.

In the first year we had to go through subjects from each branch. From 2nd year onwards we were taught branch related subjects. Courses were most designed in a manner that each student gets to know some part of every branch. We had electronics and electrical subjects in 2nd year (even though i am from IT branch).

Usually there is no internship. At most at the end of 3rd year each student is asked to submit a project (either alone or in group) based on all the technical stuff that he/she has learnt.

Placement wise it is good and in my time some core companies along with IT companies came to campus. Package provided was mostly in the range of 2.75 lpa to 3.5 lpa.

Every year there was a cultural event held in which students from different colleges participated. We had robotics, sports and coding events organised as well.

Fee structure at my time was quite ok for a middle class person. But from the latest news that came across, it has become quite expensive. We have a Marine branch as well and the fee structure for the marine students was and is always on a higher side.

Though i have never availed or tried but as fas as i know, no scholarship is given. If one wishes to, he/she can in person meet with the registrar of the college and discuss the same.

This college has one of the best campus in Odisha. It spread across more than 100 acres and is very beautifully planned. Campus life is good. Every year a cultural, sport and technical events are held where students from various colleges come and participate.

Hostel facility is provided only during the 1st year for boys but the girls can avail for all 4 years. Each room is triple sharing and equipped with a bed, table and chair. Food was not that good but manageable. Hostel charges were reasonable.

College seniors are good (at least that was the case with me). They are helpful. Mostly during exams is the time when you would need their help and you wont be disappointed. Even during campus placements, they give tips and tricks for interviews.

Every semester has 3 internal exams and 1 main exam. This is a common structure across all engineering colleges under BPUT.

Faculty is pretty good. Mechanical department had the best faculty. All the teachers were very helpful in nature. Though the faculty in IT and C.Sc department were pretty young and less experienced but they had pretty good knowledge. Faculty in Mechanical
