A freshers perspective about IIT ISM Dhanbad

The course includes lab activities which are useful for real life application and are quite useful for placement. Two quizzes ,one midsem and one end sem are conducted per semester and assignment are given based on the professor.

Companies that came for internship are Microsoft ,IBM , Samsung , Amazon,Tata motor, Flipkart. Some companies provided pre placement offer to some students. 1. Microsoft Project: Development of an AI-powered chatbot for customer support. Outcome: Streamlined customer service, reducing response time and increasing customer satisfaction. 2. Amazon Project: Design and implementation of a predictive analytics model for inventory management. Outcome: Improved inventory accuracy, leading to better stock management and reduced wastage. 3. Google Project: Enhancement of Google Maps with real-time traffic analysis using machine learning. Outcome: More accurate traffic predictions, improving user navigation and reducing travel times.

Students from 3rd semester are eligible for internship.Students from 4th semester are eligible for campus placement. Companies like Google, Amazon, Phone pe, Flipkart, Tata steel, IBM, Microsoft, Walmart, Samsung come for placement. Previous year approximately 60% students got placed and this year highest package was Rs. 520000.

In 1st semester I paid Rs 119000 which included tution fees ,hostel fees and mess fees. In 2nd semester I paid Rs 119000 which included tution fees, hostel fees and mess fees.For students belonging to category reservation and based on annual income they have to pay lesser tution fees Scholarships are also given for merit cum based performance.For late payment students are charged extra fine amount.

The technical fest name is concetto held in month of September. The cultural fest name is Srijan held in month of January -february. There are different technical clubs, cultural clubs and sports clubs having different rounds for recruitment. The library has a wide range of books . Classrooms are digitalised with smart boards and projector. Different ngos and welfare clubs are runned under leadership of senior and alumni for the needy people. A club named Udaan is run to help the students preparing for civil sevices.

The hostel room consists of 2 beds, 2 tubelight,fan ,a cupboard for 2 students. The meal quality is not so good and have few options in veg . Once a month special dinner is being held at mess. The hostel are being alloted during the process of registration for the semester. Single rooms are provided for fourth year students.

I took admission in this college through jee advanced examination. I had applied for NIT Rourkela Computer Science apart from this but choose this college because of the IIT tag and strong alumni network.Apart from JEE students have to score 75% in CBSE 12TH examination to be eligible to take admission.

The faculty are quite expert in their fields. The faculties are quite helpful in both academic and non academic issues. We can contact them through their email .The exam system includes mid sems,quizes , assignments and end sems.The course curriculum is quite relevant to the subject and the exams are from moderate to tough level.

My favourite hang out spots include the rd cafe and mezbaan. Late night activities include playing badminton, short pitch cricket, carrom and listening music and sometimes roaming around campus with friends . Shops are opened at night to enjoy late night snacks .The main gate closes around 10:00 pm at night , the library and computer lab is open upto 12:45 AM night. Security guards are alloted at all hostels and infront of main buildings.
