Course Curriculum Overview

5

I chose to pursue a course in Analytical Economics because of my fascination with the intricate relationships between economic variables and my desire to develop a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanisms that drive economic phenomena. Throughout my academic journey, I have been drawn to the analytical and problem-solving aspects of economics, and I believe that this course will equip me with the necessary tools and techniques to analyze complex economic data, identify patterns, and inform policy decisions. Moreover, I am excited about the prospect of applying mathematical and statistical techniques to real-world economic problems, and I am confident that this course will provide me with a solid foundation for a career in economic research, policy analysis, or decision-making.

Internships Opportunities

3

In the fourth year of honours , Internship and research are necessary and the college offers internship placements. However currently the Economics department does not have research facility. But later in the coming years it may start .

Fees and Financial Aid

So Basically I took the course Ba Analytical Economics which comes under self financing department means we have to pay comparatively more fees than the aided department. Because as for the aided dept faculties salary is given by the government while the self financing dept faculties salary is given from the students fees. Also This course is combined with Civil service coaching classes which are conducted by Fortune Academy. The initial fees which you pay comes near 50,000 INR. In this 20,000INR is for the civil service classes . Also it is a one time payment. After that the sem fees comes back to 15,000INR . The civil service classes will be conducted in both online and offline mode . It will be a 3hour class conducted during saturdays. If you are a SC ST or comes under any other low income categories, you can submit the required certificates from the tahilsidar office for fee reduction. Also there will be a initial 8000INR which is required to be paid in the name of College maintainance fees. It reduces according to your parents annual income . So it's not a worry , they will not force it upon you.

Campus Life

4

The college has various activities. Ranging from Political events , Union Curtain raiser events, Flash Mob , Debates , Journalism shows, Film Festival and Trivandums biggest Management Fest which is conducted in accordance with the department of analytical economics and augment IEDC Etc. Also the college has a very profound basketball team which has been the consecutive winner for the tournaments over the years.

Admission

First of all I wrote CUET entrance exam, but I didn't get that much score which was needed. After that I applied for 6 colleges in which I got qualified for 4. I got admission for Bachelors in Economics in VIT Vellore institute of technology, Symbiosis pune , All Saints College and Marivanios autonomous college. Out of which I chose Marivanios because the course offered by them which was analytical economics was a special course which was oy available in 2 colleges in whole Kerala. The admission process is simple , You have to apply through their official website and the next call of action will be informed by the college authorities through sms/ email.

Faculty

3

The faculty members are all very friendly as most of the teachers are passouts from the same college itself so they all are very adaptable. Moreover most of them are young so are able to catch up with us more . According to the student ratio in each dept there are upto 5- 6 teachers present. One of my favourite faculty was a sir from commerce department. He showed no discrimination among students who scored less or high marks . Treated everyone with the same care. One of the negative is actually it's a negative caused due to lack of experience. Regarding when a student scores low marks instead of demotivating him/ her , you should uplift them. There are 2sem exams in a year , with separate internals conducted for the two . Of which question papers are prepared by the respective faculties itself while for the externals outside teachers come . Mostly the exams are moderate not that tough..like if you study hard you can score well . About 15-18 %only fail to clear the exam but they also complete it by writing the improvement exams .The course curriculum is highly appreciated and recommended as it will be useful in the coming job market.

Night Life

4

The college has 4 cafeterias. Out of which one has the lunch options available where you can sit and dine. 2 other cafeterias have snacks and beverages. And the last one has stationary, photosthat and other chocolates, icecreams and small packet snacks. The Food is good and tasty .We have a huge in which every book is available. Next there is a gym/ fitness centre for both students and faculties. You can register and use it .Hostel curfuew for girls hostel is about 6pm . Famous hangout spots outside the college are Frozen bottle, Bigg belly momos , Bee Mart, Garam Masala, KFC , Domino's, Mav Donalds etc . And yes the location is safe and sound.

Placement Experience:

From the last semester pass out we a re eligible for the campus recruitment for job or placement. So many companies visit us for the interview or some checking like , hero honda , maruti suzuki etc. the main reason for it was a low amount of budget is that get from this placement maybe 15 thousand let month ect. Only the company can take the students for it so the percentage of the students who getting placement will change in every year. My plan was to get an admission in the central government University for doing master of degree in History. And try the best exam called upsc.
