BCM: A Dream College

The course curriculum is ver relevant and apt for the present world. The aspects of the curriculum influenced me and that framed my personality and attitude. The curriculum prepare us to face the real-world. The curriculum helps the students for higher studies. The curriculum helps the students to enhance their skills and qualities. The curriculum includes the information in a chronological pattern so as to keep the flow of information. The curriculum could include more about the presen world scenario. The exams are conducted frequently. The timing of the exams are three hours and one and half hours. The three hour exam prepares the students for time management during the exam so as to finish the exam on time. The exam question paper is prepared as per the model provided by the university. The question paper includes easy, average and difficult questions. the question paper includes more average level questions than easy and difficult levels.

The college provides internship opportunities through various courses. The internship are offered at Deshabhimani , Malayala Manorama, Kaumudi, Mangalam, various channels and radio stations. This is offered as part of the add-on course 'Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication' offered by the Department of Sociology. I attended internship at Deshabhimani.

The college provides many placement opportunities. The campus placements happens during the sixth semester of the course. The college conducted many placement drives. The college provided classes to enhance interview skills. The college also provided opportunities to prepare Resume, Curriculum Vitae and conducted mock interviews to enhance their confidence level. Most of the students got placed who attended the interviews. I am planning to go for higher studies. I am planning to pursue Masters in English Literature. I am hoping to get admitted to this college itself.

The admission is conducted through the MGUCAP portal which is conducted by considering the marks scored by the candidate in their Higher Secondary examinations. The fees for the merit seats are low and it varies when coming to the Reservation categories and Management seats. The fees that I paid was around 1000 per year excluding the exam fees. Tuition fees - around 4000 Caution fees - 300 Registration fees - as per the university regulations Admission fees - as per the university regulations Union fees - 100 PTA fund - 100 There are no hiddens charges. The course is affordable. The college provides good quality education in affordable fees. The college provides varius scholarships and financial aids for the students other than government offered scholarships.

The campus life is very memorable. The college conducts so many festivals annually. The college celebrates Environment Day, Anti-Tobacco Day, World Aids Day, Teacher's Day, Onam, Christmas, Arts Day, Sports Day, Ethnic Day, College Day, Merit Day etc. The college has various intercollegiate fests conducted by various departments annually. 'Celebrazione' is an intercollegiate fest conducted by the Postgraduate Department of English. 'VoxPop' is an intercollegiate fest conducted by the Postgraduate Department of English. 'Samanwaya' is an intercollegiate fest conducted by the Department of Social Work. 'Quizzard of BCM' is an intercollegiate literary quiz competition conducted by the Postgraduate Department of English. 'Mithra' is the alumnae association of the Postgraduate Department of English. 'BCM Beams' is the alumnae association of the college and is conducted annually on October 2nd. The college has a great library with lots of books, magazines, journals and access to online libraries like National Library and are easily available to the students. The college has 58 ICT enabled smart classrooms , 2 Seminar Halls and 2Meeting Rooms for effective interaction and learning. The college provides virtual classrooms including MOOC, Online resources, Online Question Bank, Video lectures etc. through college website. The college has a strong Kabbadi team and participate various other sports items. The college has a qym for maintaing the physical fitness of the students. The college has NCC, NSS, College Union, English club, Nature Club, Film Club, Anchoring Club, Child Helpline, Women's Cell, Placement Cell, Anti Ragging Cell, Anti Narcotic Cell etc. I was part of NSS, English Club and Women's Cell.

This college was my first priority in the application. This college provides equal opportunity for curricular and co-curricular activities. I applied to the colleges such as Baselius College, Kottayam, CMS College Kottayam, St. Mary's College Manarcadu etc. I got confirmed admission at this college itself which was my first priority. I didn't got rejected from any colleges. I got admission at my first priority colleges itself. Nothing went wrong. The admission process is through MGUCAP. The admission is given based on merit. The admission is given to merit seats, cultural sports quota, reservation quota, community quota and management quota. There is no entrance exam for the admission. The admission is given on the basis of the marks scored in the Higher Secondary Examinations. The admission is conducted in easy and transparent way.

The faculty-to-student ratio is as per the university regulations, The faculties are verysuuportive and caring. They are always there for us and is easily approachable. They do their duties with sincerity. The college maintains a good faculty-student relationship. The faculties provides opportunities and helps the students attain more skills and achieve their goals. They try to make every experience more fruitful. The name of the faculties are Teena Ma'am, Ponnu Ma'am, Minu Ma'am, Nithya Ma'am, Bijoy Sir, Ancy Ma'am, Neethu Ma'am, Phiona Ma'am, Jipin Sir, Anil Sir, Luke Sir, Rajesh Sir, Sr. Akhila, Fr. Byju, Elizabeth Ma'am, Stephy Sir, Zeba Ma,am, Chaithanya Ma'am, Aneha Ma'am, Jini Ma'am, IPe Sir, Fr. Philmon, Haripriya Ma'am etc. These are the names of the faculties from various departments. This list itself shows the relationship that spread between the varius departments. The college conducts class tests and model exams. There is one model exam in each semester. The model exams happens just before the university exams. The university conducts exam in each semesters. The university conducts six exams. The university also offers improvement and supplementary exams. The question papers are prepared as per the model provided by the university. The exams can be passed by attending class and studying it regularly. The course curriculum is very relevant.

The college has a well-euipped gym for maintaing the physical health of the students. This is open for teachers, students and all staffs. The college has cafteria. The college provides a Coffee Bar and a Canteen. The library opens at 8 am and closes at 5 pm. The college opens at 8 am and closes at 5.30 pm. The college hostel is inside the college premises itself. This makes the students' transportation easy. The students can hangout the siitng areas and walk through the roads inside the college. The famous hangout places outside collge are Banuzy, Third Place, Plated, Pizza Hut, 12 to 12, Peny Ice, Fruitbae, Kottayam Muncipal Park, Tonico Cafe etc. The location of the hostel is safe as it is located at the center of the town. The students were not allowed to leave the hostel after 6.30 pm.
