What Students Say
Likes
- Doing internships is a part of the course curriculum so even the college helps you in getting an internship while you study and it’s an integral part of your course so it also helps in improving CV without having search for the intership
- Teaching methods of the faculty are practical they all use case studies and latest trends to explain things to students in their language and the class are all interactive and the faculty is also really good
- Various opportunities for career advancement like from MyCaptain and other platforms like these keep showing up even TEDx event was held in the college recently and the seniors were also very helpful and frank with the first years
Dislikes
- The college events except for the namotsav are all mostly bland and don’t love up to their hype cuz it’s still a fresh campus things aren’t at that grand level events still are conducted in comparison to other colleges in a small stature
- There’s a lot of politics involved when it comes to choosing members for the clubs and committees if you don’t know the seniors by the time you come or already have some people you know it’s hard for you to get in unless you are an extreme extrovert
- The canteen food is average and overpriced but since the college is located in such a remote area you have no choice even if there’s a sponsor that comes it’ll be overpriced too
Course Curriculum Overview
The course in terms of relevance like some courses are very relavant like courses of marketing and communication and other courses like Indian management thoughts it's a subject which teaches management through Indian history so in terms of relavance it's good and the teaching methods are very practical and interactive. Some subjects can be excluded or altered for students like yoga and IMT as they can get boring over time and can be a burden to the student. The frequency and timing of exams are very tight the day your lectures are over only after a week or two your mid terms will be conducted and sometimes during that ICA could be held so it's difficult in that sense
Internships Opportunities
Currently I'm doing an internship in an NGO which is not paid but during the second year we will be doing corporate internship which will be paid since I'm still in first year and the corporate internship is included now as fir credits in the college so i don't have an opinion on the stipend and the companies
Placement Experience
The students are eligible to sit for placement from last semister of their course. Different and reputated companies such as Grand Thornton , Delloit etc. along with other big financial companies last year that is in 2023 highest package was 24 lakh and placement is not 100% . My plans after this degree is if I get placed then I'll have some experience in the corporate world otherwise and then side by side prepare for CAT or GMAT and if not placed I'll aim for IIM and colleges of GMAT
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees for nmims indore for b.com (hons) is of 1,50,000 and additional fees for hostel is 2,00,000 and hostel will be compulsory for students coming outside from indore at least in first year and along with the tuition fees additional 2000 was paid for registration. Fee structure of other courses like BBA is 2,75,000 per year. There's also an another process called "spot admission" in which if you contact the college for it based on the your 10th and 12th along with the npat score you can take admission into nmims but this will require some extra charges other than the basic fee structure there is no scholarship or financial aid available for students as per now and no difference in fees due to the category you belong to SC/ST/OBC
Campus Life
There are vaiours and diverse clubs in the college and events and festivals are conducted mostly On a daily basis like there's always something or the other going on in the college the name of the annual festival is namotusav which Is the only really good event other events are not that good and can't live up to their hypes
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is really good the food compared to other hostel is nice the rooms are big there's a gym with two trainers and there's also a game room in the hostel along with a consumer shop which has snacks and stationary for students it's open till 12 in the night then there's night canteen in hostel for students which serves Maggie and other food items
Admission
NMIMS indore was my last preference I got in mithibai Mumbai and in nmims Mumbai too along with a few colleges of DU as well but due to personal reasons I was unable to go their so for me this was the best option of a good college as the course in nmims is centralised so I'll be learning exactly what's taught in mumbai
Faculty
The faculty is really good each faculty is very open to every student no one ever denies a student for example there's a teacher named Vipa Dhingra she may seem strict but is very supportive and always open to listen when we talk to her and not just about her subject even about other subjects similarly every teacher is like that and always checks on student on how there performance is and what's going on. As for the exams and course structure the course structure is easy if you study daily because in nmims they don't give you enough time they keep you busy in various assignments and ICA presentation and class tests so if you study even for sometime daily or review your notes you'll be ok and it's not like ICA and assignments are not manageable if you don't study but for an easier life i would prefer to keep studying daily from day one. The marking system see in the ICA and assignments the faculty is really good if you do your work and even if there's a mistake or two you forgot something's the faculty will provide marks in the ICA because it's said to score as much as you can in ICA because it's hard for students to score in end terms which is true the end paper in itself is not tough but the checking is tough and strict . Currently speaking the number of people in b.com who passed out of 12 are 7 and for bba out 138 approx students only 60 students have passed
Night Life
There is no nightlife the college is allocated at the ariport side of the indore and because of that either it's too expensive to travel to the main city and the timing for students are very strict everyone has to come before 9:30 and students of first years can leave campus only till 6 after that permission is required there is basically only forest around the college and nothing to enjoy for nightlife the hostel is really strict and most of the events are done in the day only and for the night events bus is arranged for students of local there is no gym in the college the cafeteria is nice it's open and sitting places inside are also there campus opens at 7 or something and lasts till 4 max there's a game room with pool table fooze ball table tennis there's also badminton court in the campus and then there's ciricket football turf and basketball court the sittings areas are also really good
