Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course is for the Bachelors of Veterinary Science. One can opt for Masters in the a chosen field or file for civil services. Many graduates opt for working in clinics or veterinary related companies. The teaching methods could be improved by more innovative methods of teaching rather than using same powerpoints each year. More practical classes should be held. Internal exams are held every 2-3 monthes and the final exams are held during November to December.

Internships Opportunities

4

The interships are in different places of Maharashtra and stipend is only 11000. Though it should be 18000, students are being paid less. More opportunities can be provided to help students improve skill set. It is my recommendation that students are allowed to do intership in different states of India.

Fees and Financial Aid

1st year fee structure- 59000 tuition fees and 29000 hostel fees. (9000 refundable) for general category. 18000 for reserved caste 2nd year fee structure- 53000 INR tuition fees and 23000 hostel fees for general category. 18000 for reserved caste. 3rd year fee structure- same as above 4th year fee structure- 73000 INR tuition fees and 23000 hostel fees for general. 5th year fee structure- 10000 INR tution

Campus Life

3

The huge three day fest Spandan is held anywhere from April to August. The libraries can boast of no great beauty, only academic books are available here. Projectors, blackboards are present There are basketball grounds and lot of open space in Parel campus. Gym also available. Local student council exists which keeps hosting many events

Hostel Facilities

3

The girls hostel is maintained very well only it is cramped with 4 girls living in one room. Drinking water, clean washrooms available. No air conditioning present. The mess is provided by independent caterers and depends. Though cheap at 3k per month, they aren't healthy or tasty. Usually rice, dal and vegetables with egg or chicken on some days. The registration process is simple enough for hostel

Admission

I applied to many MBBS colleges but didn't get in due to my low NEET score. No rejection letter was provided. This college only takes admission through NEET scores and through a councelling process. 450+ score in NEET is a must for general students and varies from 200 to 300 for reserved students. Two regions- local and overall in Maharastra are alloted. Local region cutoff are lower than overall region. For Mumbai Veterinary College, the locals needed a score of 350+ while outsiders required 450+. If admission is taken through All India (VCI) the cuttoff can reach till 550+

Faculty

3

There are a minimum of 2 professors for every department. For a batch of 100 students, 6 to 12 professors are available each year. The anatomy department faculty is the best one guided by Dr. Gaikward and Dr. Lambate. The microbiology department leaves much to be desired in case of infrastructure and faculty strength. The internat exams are easy to pass, but finals are very hard to pass and count for 80 percent of the grade. No funny business allowed, exams are conducted in a strident manner, especially practicals.

Night Life

2

Gym is present only for boys hostel in parel. Canteens are present in both Goregoan and Parel campus. For the girls hostel in Goregoan, the in timing is 7 pm while for the boys hostel in Parel, there is in time of 10 pm For Gorgoan campus, the most popular hangout spot is Hub Mall. However Andheri is close due to Metro and many students prefer to roam there. Locality isn't safe at night in Goregoan.
