Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth formerly known as Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth is an Agricultural University established on 18th May 1972 and it is situated at Dapali in Ratnagiri district of the Indian State of Maharashtra. The university got its present name on 12th February 2000. There is a total of 19 different constituents and affiliated colleges in the Konkan region, which runs UG, PG, and Doctorate programs, and approx. 1500 students are admitted every year. Out of these 19 colleges, the maximum no. of colleges is in Ratnagiri District (10), followed by Sindhudurg (4), Raigad (3), and Thane district (2). The university provides admissions to various UG, PG, and Doctoral programs on the basis of merit and marks obtained in the Entrance Exam (MHT-CET).

The University has received a total of 32 awards for different initiatives and contributions in the agricultural field by different organizations and some of the top awards are “College of Agriculture and natural resources, Michigan State University, Michigan”, “Madrid University of Spain”, “CIFCOT, Mumbai”.
In 1997, the university received the Best Institute Award of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
At University, the major research projects are focused on Rice, Horticultural Crops, Fish, Production tools and Implement Development, Post-harvest technology, Kharland Reclamation, Soil and water conservation, Soil management & Animal production.

The research work at the Mail campus and 16 other research stations of the university is being undertaken through State & Central Government-sponsored research projects.
The University has developed 20 agricultural tools and implements suitable for different farming situations and use cases of Konkan regions.
Some of the latest ongoing research projects are- Development of spices & aromatic plants under the mission of Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Network Project on Organic Farming.
The university has developed 90 varieties of field, fruit, vegetables, tuber, and spice crops including 25 improved and 5 hybrid varieties of Rice.
The university has signed MOUs with a number of national and international institutes in the public and private sectors for collaborative research on issues and solutions.
Various extension activities are conducted by the university on regular basis such as Demonstrations, Field trips, Input supply, Afforestation, Farm and Home visits, etc. Local proof of tested technologies is established through extension education.
As per the UniRank, the university is at 415th place in country ranking while in the world ranking it is at 8334th place.
There was a total of 148 beneficiaries under various Fellowship Schemes in the year 2018-19.

Ans. Dr Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth offers Diploma in Agricultural Education. The duration of the course is 2 to 3 years. A candidate must have passed from Maharashtra Board of Secondary School examination to be eligible for the diploma program.

Ques. What are the selection criteria at Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth for UG courses?

Ans. The standard to get admission in UG Courses is that you need to secure at least 60% marks in class 12 for general and 50% for non-general candidates who wish to pursue the B.Sc. course while for the BF. Sc course you need to pass science in class 12 and the marks requirements is the same as B.Sc.

Once of my best experience in my life of this university

Likes

The teaching methods of Professor as the professor are well qualified and experienced
The campus of university and hostels is well organised and clean
The college also promotes the students for sports as various tournament are held in the university

Dislikes

There is no travel facilities in the university campus as the department are too far

Students view on curriculum

I choosed the course because of the subjects like Agronomy and horticulture and the curriculum is also very well prepared in order to future academic pursuits as they try to focus on practical knowledge rather then theoretical and coming to exams then tere are 2 mid term exams in a year of moderate difficulty level and 2 semester end exam in a year

Internship opportunity provided by the college

About internship the company that college referred was Swal corporation Ltd company location at kopargaon and sangamner with the jop profile of marketing executive and the period of 3 month with 10000 stipend per month

Placement scenario in the college

There are the placement through college but the package is very low as well the company are not to large scale and also the placement are only for the marketing and sales so instead of these placement students should start doing the preparation for the government job once they join the college

The fee structure is yearly fee of 50000 and hostels fee is 16000 and there is ebc scholarship were you get 50% of re embersment from the government which is apply by the college for the students and the name of scholarship is punjabrao Deshmukh vasti gruh bhatta and Mahatma phule

Students view on campus life

The campus life was once of my best 4 year of my life as I got to learn very much about the course knowledge as well about the life lessons also all the festivals are celebrated in the university with the participation of all the staff and the students of all years keeping aside the ahe group and senior-junior relation

Accommodation facility inside and nearby campus premises

Hostels are very clean as every weak it is cleaned by the hostels staff and the food is also included in the hostel fees and the food taste will be the same as home made infact more tasty the that and for the security the warden is always available in the hostel and if you think to stay in rented then it will cost you 4-5k just for the room and the message expenses will be 3-3.5k per month

Students view on faculties

The faculty to students ratio is less but I never felt like I don't have the proper support as the professor are always available to take calls and to help the students and also their teachings techniques were very unique.

The eligibility criteria is 50% in 12th science and cet exam in PCB and the addmission process is online through the university portal as well by visiting the university through CAPS round.Also there are reserved seats for each category

I did not gate addmition by cap round so i was go for spot round because of the college location is close form my hometown and also my friend suggest this college he was passed out from this college and currently job in banking sector

Life at vaibhavwadi

Likes

There is very beautiful campus you can see waterfall sitting in class .

Student Snaps:

College field is huge and evergreen. Infrastructure is just awesome
Clean and tidy buildings and the college events are so entertaining and energetic
Campus is excellent. My most favourite place is library and our college ground

Dislikes

The thing I dislike about college will be the transportation facilities from college to highway
No shops or stationery is close. We had to travel to the main road for buying things.

Admission:

As this is an A grade college, it was my dream to get admission in this college. As compared to others , I like it's campus, infrastructure and greenery. Mhcet, ICAR or other entrance exams will be the exams you need to give for taking admission Most preferred exam is Mhcet for Maharashtra students

Good teaching staff and good infrastructure

Admission:

Because this college is ICAR recognised which also government institution and also has good faculty and rooms are very nice and located in mountains and beach is very near which we can enjoy during the holidays period

Admission:

I always wants to go for agriculture engineering branch. I prefer practical study rather than thoery perspective. My college is one of university among four. It comes at second rank in all four universities. It is very good.

Likes

I liked the environment because it is agriculture college so u can find greenary every where. There are various places where you can visit
Library is the best thing college can have where u can find books of your semester along with competitive books

Dislikes

Light availablity during rainy season should be there
Infrastructure of the college needs to get improve

Admission:

I got this college through icar counselling and I don't know about this college at first but after joining I had pretty well experience. Admission process is not too hectic only you have to submit your documents and pay your semester fee and that's it

The admission to the DBSKVV B.Sc. course is made on the basis of marks secured in the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research).
