What Students Say
Likes
- One of the best things about our college is it involves in social events and other extracurricular activities. All the students from different branches come together and organize events and will be a part of it. There are so many clubs & its good.
- The faculty members do a great job, they are very knowledgeable and have so many years of experience in this field. All are very supportive. The classes are always engaging, the notes provided by them are of great use and easy to understand.
- The campus infrastructure is awesome. The classes, libraries, study spaces, laboratories are all good enough. The sports facilities is also very good and can be made use very well if you stay in the hostel. People from every sate of India are here.
Dislikes
- The college is too far from the city. Though it has all the essentials, it might be a problem for the day scholars as they have to travel for too long. Transportation facilities are there and can be used but the transportation fee is too much.
- The college offered some scholarships, it still felt like the cost was not justified by the resources provided. The financial aid process is complicated and sometimes feels like a barrier for students who needed additional support.
- While there are plenty of clubs and events, the overall social scene could feel cliquish at times. it is hard to break into certain groups, especially if you didn't fit the physical mold. The clubs are sometimes very active and sometimes not active
Course Curriculum Overview
The PharmD curicullum heavily emphasizes patient care. It goes beyond just dispencing medications and delves into unerstanding patient needs, medication therapy management and improrving overall health outcomes. Here in this course, you learn all about how medicines work, what they do to the body and how to use them safely. You get to spend a lot of time in hospitals and pharmacies during your fifth and sixth year i.e., during your internship....this is what made me choose this course. We also get a chance to work with doctors, nurses and other health care professionals to give the best care possible to the patients. "WE CAN MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE IN PEOPLE'S LIVES" We should have or develop certain skills when we enter the pharmacy field. Few skiils like advance clinical skills such as sterile compounding, medication reconciliation and point of care testing and also the communication skills and the counseling skills are very much required. We will have the final exam at the end of the academic year and as it is not semester wise, you only write your main final exams at the end of the academic year. Other than that, we will have sessional exams in which we should score a decent mark to be eligible to write the annual exam. The difficulty level of the exams are usaually moderate and sometimes a bit difficult and rarely very easy. The notes and the assignment questions given by the faculties is more than enough to pass the exam easily with a bit more hardwork of our own. The faculties will definitely help with giving the very important questions, so if you have interest in this field, you can definitely rock..
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities available with DSU is too wide. As I have already mentioned, the college has linked with so many other different companies which are good enough to do the internship and are good to work as well (only if you like to). The projects and the outcomes will be known when you come here because it is different for every batch and has varities and hopefully they are good and provide good knowledge. The companies and the roles offered by them are already stated in the previous pages, and you can refer that. With this you should have good connection with your seniors, to get to know what they are upto and will get to learn so many things from them. Be in contact with your seniors.
Placement Experience

Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise tuition fee as of now for the management seat students is 378000/- INR and for the KCET students it is around 130000/- INR. The above mentioned fee includes the lab fee and others like library fee as well. The fee for the upcoming years might be the same for our batch but they might increase it for the upcmoing batch. The registration fee or the application fee is 1000/- INR and the registration should be better done through online. The scholarships are only given on the merit basis. The fee varies only to the students who have come through kcet as mentioned above.
Campus Life
The overall eexperience with campus life, focusing on social aspects, club involvement and the infrasstructure provided is up to the mark. As the campus has people from almost every state of india, almost all the festivals are celebrated either grandly or in a simple way. Every month there will be one or the other festival which will be celebrated. The garba, ganesh chathurthi celebration was just awesome. Not only that but the feshres day and few other events like TARANGA which will be done every year is just awesome. They also celebrate kannada rajyothsava which is also good. The library in all the branches are good. The accessibility of the books and the journals in the library is good enough. The facilities and the techological provisions within the classrooms are good. Each classroom has a smart TV and two whie boards. There is proper ventilation and light. The campus is mainly focused on the sports and extracurricular acticities. There will be so many sport events going on. Every event which is oraganised is organised by the student clubs only, everything will be left to the students so that it will help them in many ways, may it be developing certain skills like group work, communication, management and so many other. This actually brings a positive impact in the students and helps in developing and enhancing the skills.
Hostel Facilities
The hostelers will have to choose if they have to go for two sharing or three sharing or four sharing. The fee also varies for the hostelers, the two sharing has the highest fee including the mess fee it will be aroung 228000/- INR and for three sharing it is 190000/- INR and for four sharing it is around 150000/- INR. The three sharing rooms are very spacious. They provide a bed, study table and a chair, mirror and the wardrobe but all the other things should be brought by our own(for eachperson). The two sharing hostel rooms are not very spacious. They provide bed, a study table with chair, a mirror(one for two people) and a wardrobe for each person. apart from this evrything else should should be brought ny your own. Same goes with the four sharing rooms but the four sharing rooms are not too spacious. coming to the hostel food, its average. Which ever the hostel you go to, the food over there doesn't satisfy you because nothing can match the home food. The menu includes both south indian and north indian food. For breakfast, we usually get common south indian and north indian breakfasts. For lunch we will have both dhal and sambar because northies usually eat dhal and the south indians eat sambar. Same goes with the dinner, will provide varities daily, one of these (salad, sprouts, fruits). The registration process is pretty simple and coming to the affordability, most of us feel like it is a bit expensive sometimes but not that bad also. If not hostel you can go to any PG nearby. There are so many PGs near the campus itself with affordable prices. There are also in walkable distance.
Admission
Here in Karnataka, there are ennumber of college of pharmaceutical sciences but very few college have good facilities which are actually required to run a pharmaceutical college. In that one of the main thing which comes is the availability of the hospital so that it will help us during our internship and also get a chance to visit the hospital during our fourth and third year also. This will help us build our skills by the time we graduate. With this comes the placements, here in Dayananda Sagar University(DSU) the placemnts are good. This college provides good placement with an average of 1.5 - 10 LPA of package. They are linked with some good companies and hospitals where you will get to do the internship and work there. This can only be aachieved when the person has decent CGPA and is extremely skilled. This is the reason why i applied for this college. When DSU is compared with JSS, I would say JSS is a little better than DSU for the followig reasons: 1) Provied a liitle better placements 2) Package is a little better 3) The hospital has good patient flow DSU when compared to PES is actually better because PES doesn't focus more on the medical fields. They do not have a hospital of their own but do have link with the other private hospitals in the town. They do not have very good laboratories when compared to other colleges like DSU, JSS and aslo MSR. MSR is also a good choice but i would suggest to choose either DSU or JSS. As the entrance exam in JSS was delayed, i did not opt for that college after that i only thought of DSU and then registered online and then the admission was done. There was no entrance exam given but few of my friends have actually written entrance exam. The admission process is simple: 1)Register or apply for the collge in its official website and fill all the required detials and then you will have to write the entrance exam if required. 10+2 is the eligibility criteria. good score in KCET exam can get you a seat for free or low fee.
Faculty
The faculty members are too good and always approachable. They are also friendly whenever needed and are also strict when it comes to academics. The Pharm.D classes are taken by five faculties. Five different faculties for each subject i.e., five subjects. There is only one class for Pharm.D and the strength may vary from 30-40. Every faculty does great. The notes provided by them are very helpful and very easy to understand. The assignments and the class tests which are given before any sessional exam are of great use, it just makes us more perfect in it. The main examination will be given at the end of the year. Before that we have three sessional exams which includes both theory and the lab practical examinations. The best two results out of three will be considered for the person to be eligible to write the final exam and the minimum passing marks should be secured. The exams are considered to be quite easy if studied well and referred the notes provided by the faculties. People do fail to clear the exams and such people will not be eligible for the next academic year and will have to write the exam again after one year. Course curriculum overreview: There are many aspects to choose this couse, those are self medications, suggestion about tablets, knowledge about the medications and you should have the intreset to learn new things and faculties will help with this a lot.
Night Life
Inside the campus itself there are so many places to chill. The campus is too huge and has almost all the facilities. These are beneficial especially for the hostel students. The hostel is separate for girls and boys. There are six different blocks of hostel and each hostel has its own gym, study areas, music area, gaming zone and so many others. There are so many cafeterias for each college block and a separate one called the grains and goosips. Each college block has its own library and is good enough. The timings for the hostel students is 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Any hostel student should be inside the campus gate on or before 7:30 in the evening. The hostel gates will close by 9:45PM until then the students can roam around inside the college campus. There are so many cafeterias in which food is good but not too good. The locality is not too much safe to roam around at night and also there is no place nearby to hangout as the campus is situated right next to theh highway.
