What Students Say?
Likes
- Placement Statistics(Highest package, Average Package and percentage places)
- Proximity to Industry ( Noida is the upcoming area where major companies are setting up offices)
Dislikes
- Campus Infrastructure (Very small campus and no sports facilities)
- Attendance Criteria (They are very adamant on the 70%)
Course Curriculum Overview
Since the computer world is changing so rapidly, it is tough for the curriculum to remain relevant. But it mostly depends on the specialization you are choosing. Like I chose Big Data , the curriculum of that subject is still relevant to a good extent and interviewers ask those things. But subjects like Computer Security have outdated material and not relevant.
Internships Opportunities
Internships on campus are there but the openings are very close to none. JP Morgan - 3 students CISCO - 2 students PayPal - 2 students(pre placement) Others have to apply of campus and college does not help in that area. So internship opportunities are not great to be honest.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible to sit in placement drives starting 7th semester. Companies come for in campus placement and the placement drives are there. Over 93% students got placed in the last placement drives. Highest package : 53 Lakhs Average package: 8 lakhs I plan to go for Masters after BTech.
Fees and Financial Aid
Registration Fee (1 time) - ?2000 Tuition Fees :- Year 1 : ?334600 (DF-?66000) Year 2 : ?351300 (DF-?69300) Year 3 : ?368800 (DF-?72700) Year 4 : ?387200 (DF-?76300) No fee reduction for any EWS/SC/ST Scholarship : Merit cum Need basis ( if EWS and have CGPA>9) then ?25000 provided as aid.
Campus Life
There is only 1 major fest in the Even Semester. Other events like freshers and ethnic night are very small and lack luster due to budget as well as rigid timings to get the events over before 7 pm . Sports infrastructure is zero. No sport facilities or encouragement. Most clubs and societies are dead for the most part of the year. Very small campus with toxic rules detoriate the campus life.
Admission
My Rank in JEE was 49K and I wanted CSE , so my only options were to apply in private colleges. I got accepted in MIT, VIT, SRM and JIIT. I chose JIIT just because it was close to my residence and it would save a lot of money because of not paying hostel fee which is 8 lakh for the 8 sem course. In my year , the cutoff for CSE was 59K But now , you could get CSE for as low as 78K I would recommend this college to you only if you have 60-70K rank and want CSE.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is very good (can't tell the exact figure) Majority of the faculty are good, young and easy to approach. But some faculty are also there who are rigidly set in there ways and unwilling to listen to any student concerns. There are 3 term exams (20+20+35) in each sem and 25 marks are for internals. Course curriculum becomes more relevant starting from 3rd year but before that there are many subjects which are irrelevant but just there. Paper Difficulty changes each year, but mostly studying from ppts given by teachers can get you 50-60% easily.
Night Life
Nightlife ends at 10 pm. Campus in time is 9 pm. Campus itself is very small so it always feels crowded. Gym is open but has outdated or broken machinery. Also, no speakers anywhere which is very sad. The locality is generally happening and this safe anytime of the day. Crime rate is also lower in the area due to police station being adjacent.
Other Applied Colleges
Manipal Institute of Technology Bengaluru -[MIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
I chose JIIT only due to close proximity.
